Scully
Have just realised I posted that pic' in the wrong thread! It's an age thing!
njc110381
The plot thickens. I've been talking to the OP today and it turns out that they mirrored that cut on the back of the mod to try to make it fit better. Then... Get this... Coloured over the cut on the mod with a marker pen to hide it! :o
Livefast123
If you don't want to put it on the forum, could you PM me who did this so I can avoid. I'd be taking it elsewhere and sending them the bill.

activeviii
no no. its not mirror NJC. its no where near mirror. when the owner first told me about it and sent me photos i thought it dont look to bad. but now i have had a chance to get my hands on it with my engineer friend, Well! my engineer friend was a little bemused to say the least. the mod is a sirocco mod. should have a flat face. to this you would be able to snug up any size barrel. no need to do anything to the moderator other that making sure the threading was snug. the moderator had been put in a lathe leaving 3 jaw chuck marks on the mod tube. then is has had a recess cut into the back of the mod and the shoulders countersunk to 55degree. you can not clock an work piece into a lathe with a 3 jaw chuck. then to hide this a black marker pen had been taken to the fresh machining. On clocking the barrel in to the 4 jaw chuck at both ends, yes i can do it both ends on my lathe the thread is true to the barrel. the bore is off centre. the thread is on the cant though so when the moderator is screwed on it is on the pee. For what reason there is a step in the barrel i have no idea, i can only guess it was a mistake to start or the die that was used needed that clearance. there was no other reason to cut this, the moderator did not need this step cut. one thing that gives up that it was die cut is that the moderator is so loose that i for one would be afraid of shooting. it will only take a bit of heat change in the barrel to loosen the mod, not notice it and then the moderator would have a second hole in the end. activeviii
With luck i would say re-cut and threaded, moderator replace and reimburse for the trigger sprig that the shop lost and then charged the customer for a new one. i forgot about that bit. shop handed the gun and trigger parts back to the customer and asked if he could put it back together, customer didn't know how to so shop started to put it back together, found that the trigger spring on the CZ was missing so charged the customer for a new one. it was in one piece when handed to the shop. I have no grudge or anything else i just say it as it is. if someone gives good service i will tell all, same goes for bad service, but i will not give the shops name as it is only right and lawful to give the shop time to put things right. what has peed the gun owner off more was that fact he had a 243 cut at sportsman, photo above, and it was a good cut and cheap plus closer but he thought he would give an other local business some money. fair play i say. kev56
That thread is done, nothing can be done to improve it. only way is cut the barrel shorter (if ***) and screw cut a new one.
Redgum
That is a terrible job, why would there be chuck marks on the moderator?. It would be a good man that could cut a thread straight enough for whats needed for a moderator by hand, it should be done on a lathe which also gives a machine finish, this was obviously not a good man. My thoughts are that its been done by rent a clown Allsports, from Mr shale I would be very dissappointed and that only leaves the target boys, HPS, at Quedgley and they don't do nowt for under a £100 and it would be proofed (though their powders cheap)and reblued. This is a back street job and you should shame em, I've had same bodge job from Allsports, it happened once and they won't have the chance again, I broadcast their reputation to all that will listen. Get it redone or money back and take it elsewhere, having the barrel an inch shorter aint the end of the world.
