figgy
Kicks high flyer modified is my choice for my sx3 invector plus choked gun. Patternmaster get good write ups as do undertaker and Terror. Muller have also brought out some wildfowling chokes that will be worth a look as I use the competition chokes and like them. A lot depends on what carts shot size and range most of your shooting will be done at. Figgy
B B
I am in the exact same possition i have had a 425 waterfowl for a few years now and have put up with the the patterns with the standard chokes long enough these are average with the faster loads i use . I looked in to extended browning chokes these are made by briley i borrowed a set they were little better than the std flush in the invector pluss which is what i had been led to understand, i had hoped for more % in the patterns but no, brileys have worked great in other guns for me but not in the inv pluss. For ecconomy i will probably go for the carlsons waterfowl pack below. But this is just because i cant get Terror chokes in the 425 without machining them down according to what i read. I have seen a lot of patterns on the Ohio WF site from a comp n choke used in a SX2 this choke was exeptional, and others have tried the Indian creek Black diamond chokes in the invector pluss and have reported good results but again not sure you can get two to fit in together without machining. Its loooking like the carlsons they are cheaper and work from the patterns and reports i have read. http://www.midwayuk.com/epages/Midway_UK.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Midway_UK/Products/617330&ff_pos=57&ff_origPos=634&ff_simi=99.91&ff_TrackGUID=51DF0577-676F-7D4D-CEF6-1414141 or this indian creek . 720 bottom .710 top if they fit ? http://www.midwayuk.com/epages/Midway_UK.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Midway_UK/Products/411620&ff_pos=22&ff_origPos=1000&ff_simi=97.93&ff_TrackGUID=51DF0951-6F9F-AD80-4B62-1414141B2110
henry d
I was just thinking about the Carlson set, as above and also the turkey choke for foxes/geese inland (I live in Scotland), but do I get them now or wait for Santa? How many weeks to go hmmmm?

How many weeks to go hmmmm? If you shoot lead inland up there the terror 675 is basicaly a turkey choke made to withstand steel and it patterns lead equaly well as it will steel, most steel chokes tend to be choked less than the terrors, with the terror you effectively get the best with both steel at long range any vellocity and lead at long range in the one choke. just for the record typical turkey chokes tend to be around .665 constriction. Then go shoot your steel on a patern plate at 40 yards. Chances are, they will both be about right for most goose shooting (unless you're pass shooting really high birds). Bonus is that those are about perfect for game with lead too. thanks rick

B B
Any choke even a cylinder choke will throw a pattern and with some loads at some speeds (lead or steel)zero choke can often be very even patterning and for close shots a good choice. Now up to 30 yards differences in factory and aftermarket are not that far apart, but once you get to 40yards things start to go wrong. The invector plus bores are .740 bore thats big for a 12gauge, and they are when properly choked very good paterning guns. But the standard chokes do leave a lot to be desired, they will work and many people just screw in the mod choke in their X2s and bang away happy and never give the chokes another thought, they are killing things and they are totaly satisfied. That 45 yard passing duck they downed that kept diving when the dog got near was just one of those things, that grey that was hit so hard but just stiff winged right out in the tide was just one of those things it happens right. ? You can only do your best when handling a gun, and you can only do your best when finding out whats happening to the shot when you do your bit and pull the trigger on anything you are shooting at. Banging a few shots in to the mud on the river bank and saying yay! is not patterning nor is firing at the far bank of the pond looking at the splash. Pattern up those factory tubes see what percentages you get at 40yards i have and i know near enough what you or anyone else will get. With lead in the factory mod tube you will get about this at 40yard . With steel in the factory mod you will get around this at 40 yard And if you get a typical aftermarket tube in that same barrel in this case a trulock presision hunter mod you will typicaly get this with the lead load at 40 yards. And this with the steel at 40 yards. I hate spending money on chokes but i hate not having efficient equiptment to, i know how my guns pattern, if those patterns with factory tubes are acceptable to you fine i know of the two lots of patterns which ones i want to be throwing out.
