pegasus bridge
I sneaked out for a quick stroll with the hmr at 430am today. Rabbit Number 3 appeared on the headland (recently cut) about 110 mtrs out. He was stood upright and still so I thought he had seen or heard me, I get on the sticks and whack, he's down and kicking, then a fox suddenly launches out of the hedgeline a few feet away and grabs it! Quickly joined by another, smaller fox who watched as the first tucked in. My guess is he was already stalking it hence it was upright and alert. I didn't shoot the foxes as the landowner wants them left. Apologies for the pic quality on the phone, can just make out on fox sideways eating the rabbit, with the younger one a few feet back watching. Great time of day to be out, back by 7am for a bacon sarnie. Edited July 13, 2013 by pegasus bridge
Olliesims
That's a rare thing to witness I'm surprised the foxes didn't leg it after the hmr thud, shame the farmer doesn't want them shot could of been another 2 down, great pic tho
moor man
Ha Ha! You was robbed! I had a similar incident with a pheasant I shot, except the thief was a buzzard, managed to scare him off my dinner though

channa
Good picture. Not all foxes have to be shot nice to see them, unfortunate they took your rabbit if you was going to eat it yourself.! ATB

barrelsniffer
i had a similar shot quite a few yrs ago, i shot a rabbit with my 17rem at about 150yds and before i could reload the bolt i seen a blurr through my scope on looking it was a fox that must of been sat in the bush some 10 yds away when i shot the rabbit, it ran out grabbed my rabbit before it could get back to the bushes i did a quick reload then shot the fox too with my rabbit in its jaws.
