Dekers
Sometimes you have to read between the lines, it was meant to convey the fact that there is no useable 30 ft lbs rimfire round. Yes yes I now someone is going to turn up telling us his BSA match rifle shoots gallery rounds into the same hole at 40 yards off hand, produces 26 ft lbs and his local haberdashery always carries stock - but in real life it is very difficult to arrive at such a combo with powder rifles, which is the exact opposite to FAC air guns which are easy to shoot accurately at reduced power levels. Proper .22lr. A little over 30ft lb, but they work, and CCI have a fragmenting version, but not yet in the UK. http://www.cci-ammunition.com/products/detail.aspx?use=3&loadNo=

njc110381
I'd be really interested if anyone has heard a fox leap and howl as I never have in 20 years of shooting them, hell I've not heard one make much noise when hit by my GWP and certainly nothing which just confirms what I was thinking I hit one once with my .22lr which resulted in the fox snarling like it was fighting and biting itself where it must have felt the pain of the hit. It was a very strange experience and has only happened to me once. After sticking a second round into it and checking it over the first shot was a good one (an inch away from the second). It would have fallen without the follow up but at the time I wasn't taking the chance. For a good few seconds though it was properly p***** off! Catweazle
On the subject of firing in suburban gardens, I knew a guy who reloaded a lot of pistol calibre ammunition for sale at the gun club and was allowed to fire up to 44mag into his coal bunker for testing purposes. Not very relevant, true. Anyway, I have a spare Falcon FN19 ( left handed ), that's spare and dead accurate if the OP wants to borrow it. But, over 40 ft lbs with a 40 grain bullet is still not my idea of a garden round.
204 rem
Personally I wouldn't risk it myself .You have only to upset the neighbours or a bullet to go through the edge .and the police will be on to you I would buy a cheap air rifle so nobody can hear you When you shoot the birds
