silver pigeon 3
I have just been given permission to carp fish a lake that nobody has fished for a good 7 years!! i used to fish it a lot about 15 years ago and it held a decent number of 20lb+ fish then. After i stopped fishing it another syndicate took it over and had it for about 5 years and they removed some smaller fish and stocked a handful of very pretty 30lb fish, when they gave the water up the lake record was 41lb. I have been given a provisional 48hr ticket and hopefully more after if all goes well, session planned for later on this week so fingers crossed. oscarsdad
Great news...hopefully it will cool down a bit and you have a good session. I have just got back from bass fishing in Wales- 20plus bass on lures this morning. I had similar on my perm - farmer has a lake which he used to let to a fishing club but doesn't anymore so I can fish it he says! Unfished a couple of years but stocked with all sorts! pegasus bridge
That's the stuff of dreams! Are there any pike in it? The best piking I have experienced by far was on a similar water (no angling pressure). Tight lines!
silver pigeon 3
No pike, but had a walk around earlier and saw some huge perch in the one corner. Lake is about 7 acres with only 4 fishable swims. The whole 1 bank is overhanging trees/bushes so I plan to fish a swim that gives me the option of fishing to it as well as a big lily patch and loads of open water. Put in 3 kilos of bait earlier and fish were straight on it with no hesitation, will keep it going in this week in anticipation of thurs/Fri, looking good though. karpman
Sounds fantastic, keep it quiet though or terry Hearn will be poaching it lol. Very envious Karpman

Very envious Karpman Yeah don't worry it will be kept quiet, i am trying out a new bait for a mate who has started his own bait business so any captures the location will not be named. You never know next week i might be in the weeklies with a 40lb fish from a southern stillwater! lol
Twistedsanity
Remember to turn off the geo-tagging on your mobile phone of you use it for photos or you will have more poachers visiting than you know what to do with , I have a one acre lake in guilford where I shoot that has been un fished since the current owners family moved in 50 years ago, the surface is like a golden Rudd soup

activeviii
Top draw SP. I had the very same thing a few years ago. sounds just like the place i fished. there was one guy that had the odd dabble with only one fish a year coming out. i asked if there was a chance i could have a go. best fishing ever. lots and lots of long, under weight fish with the odd lump. there was no swims and couldnt cut any, only place was from under hanging willows so i had to use the bait boat. only way to fish it. i think they put a syndicate on there in the end,not been over since. It was evesham way. Tight lines and wet chest to you SP. ATB Phil.
silver pigeon 3
What a session, arrived Weds eve and watched fish after fish bosh over the baited area, put out 2 solid pva bags onto the area and another up tight to the far margin. 1st fish was a long lean 18lb common that went off like a rocket! then had another the same size. Very quiet overnight and no fish in the area on Thurs am so i decided that more bait was needed!! an hour of spodding later and approx 5 kilos of pellet/particle along with a kilo of bait and it was instant. 7 Fish Thurs day up to 24lb and another spodding session in the late pm with the same quantities again gave me 3 more overnight all 20lb+. Again the next morning more bait (the last of it) and had 5 more between 17lb and the biggest of the session at 28lb. Spoke to the owner and hopefully another session in the near future, saw some proper lumps again so loads to go at.

silver pigeon 3
Cheers gents. It has been a while since i did any proper carp fishing and i forgot what a buzz the alarm screaming is. I was well chuffed that from 17 takes i landed all 17 fish, but did lose a few leads in the weed whilst playing them The best thing i have ever done was stop using round baits and now always use chops the fish just don't be able to deal with them, every fish was hooked about a cm back in the bottom lip. With you on chops mate if getting the bait out isn't a issue. For me it was born out of lazyness easier to squeeze and chop than roll lol. Don't miss putting a couple of kilos out with the stick either lol. Karpman

Karpman Yeah that's the down side with them, if it is past about 40 yards and i cant catty them out if possible i will just put a kilo or so in the spod mix and get them out there that way. I remember the feeling of an hours throwing stick work and wasn't keen then and now a little older definately not!
