gazbev
Its been a funny year for me this one,the magnet I put out as a rule but have put out then took back in because birds have been veering off, floaters with Hyperflaps put out then taken in,different patterns and distances, the only thing that has worked for me this year is a really basic horseshoe pattern within lay ten flocked half shells planted high with the nearest decoy 35 yards,I have young birds decoy in but older ones mostly do a fly by at speed. I have a shocking cartridge to bird ratio and there isn't much in the freezer. Got great flightlines but they are feeding somewhere else, the only thing Is I am only shooting 10am till 4 pm. Are there better times to shoot do you think?
timmytree
Birds in my area seem to have the strongest feeding spell in late afternoon/evening. Out between 4-30pm to 7pm seems about best for me.
steve_b_wales
I find that first light is the best time for pigeons and corvids.
Hopper Bopper
I am seeing them on harvested fields way up to 8 o'clock at night and still getting a shot at them. I don't tend to see early morning lol. HB
superspark
Ive shot most of mine before 10am but still get them coming in over the rest of the day
Longbower
Pigeons feed all day, but roost at night, so seem to be at their most veracious after fasting through the night. There seems to be more woodies around our housing estate than around the fields at present.
sitsinhedges
Whatever time you start shooting you will exhaust the flightline within a few hours. Ideally I like to go out mid morning looking and be set up by lunchtime at this time of year as long as it's not too hot or the flies too apparent. Come late afternoon it's generally all over though and anyway my tea is ready .
