Got a text from the farmer on Tuesday confirming he was combing the rape..

Managed to get away this afternoon, arrived at the perm at 2.30 and 20+ pigeons took off

sat there for four hours...four shots and only a single crow in the bag. There are no flightlines on this perm so only resident pigeons to have a go at.

This is my only perm and I am not giving it up however time to knock a few farmers doors i think.

Peas gone and fields diced, rape combined...Gutted the harvest hasn't delivered..

Keep an eye on it because it could still produce if its left a few days ,

I dont agree with your theory of only resident pigeon either , I for instance have a few fields out side my back door , over the last 14 years (since i moved in ) I have shot 1000s of pigeon off them , if they were just resident birds then surely I would have shot the lot ,two birds I shot one year a few weeks apart had rings on ,they had traveled some 30 miles or more from where they were ringed, when there is a food source pigeon will travel miles to get to it and then there will be a flight line into your field !

They may appear they may not it will all depend on where they want to be and other available food sources

Tomorrow i'll guarantee you more than 4 shots, and right on your doorstep weather you hit them or not is down to you

Did you see my thread " Stubbles are not the Holy Grail"??

Now, some 4 or 5 weeks later, it's almost all over here. All cut, mostly cultivated. Pigeons all over the place but about 1 per 10 acres. I've used £100's of fuel, spent days and days watching fields and have shot about 225 so far this harvest including the one day it really worked, with 104.

So, NO, it's not the Holy Grail anymore.

Have you not seen all the reports from people on here with 100/200+ bags this harvest?
