m3vert
Sad state of affairs! poor show from the company involved and says a hell of a lot about what they would be like to work for!! She is probably better not working for such a clown!!If I had been in her shoes I would have been tempted to barter the price down to around the 10k mark, see the other girl off, then calmly and politely walk out saying I had changed my mind! Good on her for walking out
Zetter
As someone who is currently looking for a new staff member its appalling. I need my people to be able to work on their own initiative and there is a fair bit of training involved to get them up to speed. If you employ someone under there terms how can you expect any loyalty from them at all in the future as you have show them utter contempt in the first place. Good for your Daughter for walking out and I really hope she gets something soon. Atb Neil

Good on her for walking out That is spot on the only problem is you only think of the good ideas afterwords so often when you get home you think I wish that I had thought to do this or that. Paul T
This sort of thing has been happening, albeit less directly, for quite a while. I was told to reduce my rate or I wouldn't get any work - qualified Architects taking jobs at £17-18k just so they were in a job. I told the agencies to shove it - I'll do other work for that, but my professional expertise is worth a lot more. Good on your daughter for having the courage to walk away. While ever people are prepared to sell their souls for next to nothing, employers will take advantage
Deker
I think I'd have accepted the job, done it for a couple of months and then handed my notice in so the company had to train/accustom me and then waste all that time doing the same all over again. What goes around comes around. **** me about and I'll **** you about has always been my attitude. I think I'd have done the same, taking as much training out of them as possible while keeping an eye on the job market for something better, especially if this role was in the field that she wants to be in, companies like this are perfect to use as a stepping stone to better things
