dhumble5
Hi all Can you help with some advice with foxs. Is there a deterrent apart from the gun. The problem is they are coming in a school yard at night and craping all over the place this morning I had to clean up 5 lots. I don't know much about foxs but they have been spotted with young ones with them. Do any of you know of a safe deterrent bearing in mind it is in a school yard. Thanks

robbiep
Human urine is supposed to work - especially if you are a bit dehydrated, because it is then more concentrated, so smells stronger to the foxes. However, probably not really appropriate in this situation. First, fix any gaps in the fencing that they are using. If they can't get in, then your problems are instantly solved. Next, ensure no food is available for them. They will scavenge if it's easier than hunting. If you've still got a problem, then the school really need to look at someone to do the job professionally. Due to where it is, I'm assuming that cage traps will be the way to go, followed by a short journey. And don't even think alowing the person trapping to release them a few miles away. They will be back 24 hours later, and a lot wiser regarding the trap. If that happens, you are then looking at someone with a rifle to do the job. CharlieT
The only guaranteed (well almost) way to keep them out is a fox proof fence.

Dekers
I've just finished a job at a school, took out 8 foxes, they will keep coming as the school has such amazing grounds and is surrounded by the rough of a Golf Course. Baiting and shooting worked well, the routes and tracks were well established and it was just a good job, some work out better than others, all done in the school holidays. The only thing other than permanent removal that may be worth a try is Scoot Fox repellent. I have never had any much success with any of the other repellents on the market and I'm not jumping up and down about this one either, but if you use it correctly it has a chance, you will need a fair bit and need to use it for a while, but may be worth a try. Failing that bring in a professional and get planning.

Dekers
did you squeak them in Dekers? shotgun? No need, I found their route and set up and waited, a bit of bait around in the hope they would pause for the shot, I also had inside information as to the times they were commonly seen....... HMR was used!
