Lol, it's called goose fever, once you've been on a goose flight you'll be hooked.

Good luck in your pursuit in finding some up your way

If your a member of BASC they have a permit system you can buy and get taken out on the marshes for some Wildfowling.

I love being out on marsh with my dog, if I'm lucky enough to get some in range and get one or two for the pot, fantastic.

I know exactually what you mean, nothing better than being out there, just you and the dog. Maybe a few bangs and a nice retreave.

Can't beat it

Shiny ring info, ring by the RSPCA at aged at least 1 year old in Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria, (OS ref SD4097 co-ordinaries 54 deg 22 min N, 2 deg 55mins west) on the 2 nd of July

I shot it 81 days later and it had travel 126 km, it was tasty too!

Rung by the RSPCA??? Are they wasting more money, or did you mean the RSPB?

Does make a difference we you get a young bird. I put the older ones through the mincer now. That's half the chewing done for me

Superb video ! Really, really enjoyed that

Thanks buddy, look forward to viewing some of yours this season.

Then longevity of this thread is certainly complementing the shooting, both steel and camera!

Cheers Chris.

Is their an easy way of aging a bird before biting in to it, as I understand it's something to do with their feet?

I just go by general appearance. But they say the ones with "forked" tail feathers are the younger birds and the adult birds have straight edges to their tail feathers.

Also heard anecdotes like,"if you can snap off the lower beak easily, it's a young bird" and "if it's easy to tear the webbing on their feet it's a young one".

I'll have a closer inspection on my next outing. I'm sure their was a thread on aging geese last year.

Would be a lot easier if they were all ringed lol ( that is a joke before someone jumps on me )

Yes very enjoyable, good viewing as yours are Duffryn - when do you start listing your vids again!

Thanks. I've left the camera at home for the last 3-4 days (no time to edit). I've got some more time now so will start from this weekend

I'll be doing well to beat yours - some serious competition ! Hope to start filming from this weekend
