Why has this feller got to check his proof marks? It's three inch!

The full choke is to tight matey....half is like full in steel!

Just because its 3" doesnt mean it actually has steel proof marks. I have a 3" gun which is not proofed for steel, as do many other people. Its only a higher pressure anyway

This steel thing is bloody confusing, my al390 has 3 inch chambers and accoring to the proof marks its proofed for the same pressure as steel but hasn't got the steel shot proof stamp. Being the curious type I asked the gun smith, his reply was no worries if using under half choke and pointed out the yanks don't proof test for steel and have used the guns for years with no worries.

I fiqure a small bit of steel here and there with quarter choke won't hurt.

Oh......I thought a three inch shell no matter what it was loaded with had to errr to stay in three inch pressures! No?

wrong my lanber has steel proof at 1320 bar.

All steel proofed guns i've looked at have been proofed to 1370 bar, not seen a 1320 bar. All the gun makers just like to do something different to everyone else so i'm not surprised.

Interestingly i've got some 3" steel cartridges here which say " Use in guns proofed for steel shot at 1370bar ", whereas some other says " Use in guns proofed for steel shot at 1050bar "
