Suzuki Foxes

With a break in the weather forecast,i was dragged out kicking & screaming last night by Foxhunter,

and this after a 12hr shift.

Plan was to try out a camera system whilst trying for a Chicken killer that stepped out 25yds from

me last week as i was scanning with the NV and rifle was on my shoulder.

Pulled into the field and attached the lamp/camera to the newly installed remote handle on my Jimny.

Having only had it set-up in the workshop, the lamp was hitting too close in front(60yds)and therefore

too bright.Got Mark to switch his lamp on(has a dimmer) and he said eyes by the Chicken coops.Dimmer turned up to reveal it was a Fox.

Quick dash to back of motor to get & load the rifle.Movedinto position to find the Fox had crossed into

next field,we followed and i was made to get onto the bipod in the mud..only to be told nope,it's

moved again!Back over the fence, nope not here, back over the fence and there it is.i rest against a tree

and onto Marks shoulder,Fox is 75yds away and i miss!!

Luckily it only trots off 20yds,turns to see what the hell was that then trots off to about 150yds,

Mark gives a squeak and it stops side on.This time i rest solely on the tree(Marks a bit short in the

R's)and hear a nice thump but Fox still goes some 40yds before it starts the Death Spiral they do.

With the Fox retrieved,we set-up along the top of the field we saw the Fox in last week, caller placed

at 60yds with the Fox next to it in the hope it will cause any more Foxes to stop and check it out.

Few more tweeks of the camera and screen before we settle in and start calling.10.45pm and Mark

comments, that as it was 11pm we saw it last week, next half hour should prove fruitful.

10 mins later i'm scanning with NV and a Fox runs past my line of sight towards the caller.Nv Attached

and i pick it up looking at the call,it turns and i can only see its bum,it turns again and is standing

directly behind the caller. It then makes a beeline out out of there,Mark shouts HEY and it takes off

down the field, barely stopping and out of sight.

I remove the NV and scan..nothing,so i look at where it came from to see another looking at us.Mark

can't get the screen to work and the Fox mills about the hedge before moving off.His size 4 wellies had

disconnected a cable,re-attached it and immedately he picks up the Fox again on the track looking at us.

This time it ventures across to the caller, but yet again doesn't hang about.I was following the Fox through the lamp/IR filter but lost it as the roof bars on the motor got in the way.We switch off the caller and it is straight back out crossing below the caller.Again it wouldn't stop, eventually working it's way upto the track we first saw it on and into the hedge.

We agreed it would slip up eventually if it was to keep appearing.

Appear again it did as soon as the call went on.Game of cat n mouse ensued with no shot.

Called it out again and this time it came into the field. What was useful was looking at the screen i could

see where my laser was in relation to the Fox,therefore getting straight onto it.It didn't like the laser

and turned away as soon as it hit it but stopped after 20yds and sat down..at last a clear shot and the familiar thud returned.

Another 2 Vixens..thats 6 in row for me and 8 for Mark.

Camera system has potential, just need a few mods to it...1 downside is Mark struggles to reach the handle and needs a booster cushion. Will let him explain that 1 :lol:

Nice 1 looks like the NV is doing the trick!!

What camera is it??

Watec902 H

well it was definatley worth going out pal, ive never used night vision or ewt yet, i feel its a bit like a video game on your gun at night but if it works fair play to you both, good shooting again, cheers simon

It is a bit different..Mark says i'm a bad influence as he's a confirmed"lamper"

How do you find the jimny in all this rain we've had? That bar looks really useful to, is it welded on or just fastened somehow?

Jimny travels easily as it's so light...i'm guessing you mean the rifle rest, just a snug fit.Slides on and off

Well done nice result...

Cheers was just good to be out again
