kent
I asked SGC if they would order me in 500 rounds if I paid for them up front and took them as my ammo allocation allowed and they wouldn't do it. They said they didn't know when there would be a stock imported for them to order from so there was no point taking my money. I'm not sure whether this situation is purely down to a lack of US exports, the buying policy of SGC or the buying policy of the UK importer or a combination of all three. I understand the legal side and I doubt its ever been tested but its been given by FEOs before now as a reason why someone doesn't need a higher allowance- go figure! I suspect SGC don't use the same routes as most RFDs
Dekers
The .22 Hornet has NEVER been a massive seller and it's popularity has wained over recent years, but seems slow/steady at the moment. (don't dive in here, it can be useful ) Why on earth do so many think the 17 Hornet will turn into a world beater? Just what gap has there been in the market that screams 17 Hornet, the .17 CF's have always been slow sellers, so WHY? Of course there will be a market for some, and they will fit a great slot for some, but I'd give it about as much legs as the 17Mach2, perhaps that is a little too harsh, ok, slightly less legs than the .204!. bicykillgaz
Other than been flatter shooting what does the .17hornet do that the .22hornet can't? Also how well can they be moderated?
CharlieT
Other than been flatter shooting what does the .17hornet do that the .22hornet can't? Also how well can they be moderated? 50% more energy @ 200 yds and 100% more at 300 yds. Moderate extremely well.

Want one. Yes Gonna get one. Yes Need one. Prob not. I have a 22lr, 17hmr, 22 hornet and a 223. So I don't need one but the reason I and many others will get one is because we want to. It won't do anything that any of my other rifles do. But it will do it differently. Why does so many people feel that you have to have a specific rifle for that job. Surely if it had no place in the market place they wouldn't be selling like hot cakes in the USA and have a waiting list in the uk I love the characteristics of each of my guns (shotguns included) and I love the hmr. The hornet in my eyes is basically going to be my hmr on steroids and I can't wait to go play with it.
bicykillgaz
50% more energy @ 200 yds and 100% more at 300 yds. Moderate extremely well. Cheers for the info mate, when you put it like that I can certainly see its appeal! Saying that I've never felt underpowered with my .22hornet but I guess that's down to my land rather than the calibre.
Amazed
50% more energy @ 200 yds and 100% more at 300 yds. Moderate extremely well. For bullets weight ratio.
kent
50% more energy @ 200 yds and 100% more at 300 yds. Moderate extremely well. Now, exactly what are we comparing there out of intrest? there is much wrong comparing retained energy or ballistics generally without issue of the compared data. A 35 grn v-max is not going to fare as well as a better bullet in .22 flavour and I don't believe factory .17 is produced in a particularly worthwhile bullet but could be homeloaded with something better (in theory). Not disputing your claim just give us the full picture behind that statement please, so we might judge the validity

Comparing different cartridges is interesting and fun but at the same time remember something like a .243 win will kick the butt of either hornet as a fox and long range vermin round. If it lasts as long as the .22 Hornet has then I recon its proved its place

Whitebridges
Does anyone else like me take pity on the Police having to deal with some of the cretinous individuals applying for licences or variations?
Amazed
Does anyone else like me take pity on the Police having to deal with some of the cretinous individuals applying for licences or variations? daz2202
Probably best not to tell the feo that Look out here come the internet police as always! I only speak the truth. It won't do anything my other guns won't or can't do ( cleanly take its quarry) but it will do it differently and will be different to shoot than my other guns. So setting up, taking the shot, getting it right will be different to the last gun. What's so wrong with that, as my hobby is not just pulling the trigger. But getting the whole package, think they call it (hunting)
daz2202
So that's what you wrote on the FIR101 hey! More pw internet police. In answer to your question. Pretty much yes. Just not quite so bluntly. Shooting, you should try it one day. You have whacked over 8000 posts in 3 years. I've done more bunnies and pigeons !!!
