wildfowler.250
generally found that the cartridge length is the important factor. you want something 70mm long. mine will cycle 21g 70mm shells happily but shorter shells in say 30 gram loads can be a problem. figgy
The only time my SX3 stuck with a cart in the ejection port was with some Hull Sovereigns, happened every other shot. Never had a problem since, gun was spotless. If its new is it sticky with grease, took me a couple of cleans to get rid of it all. I'd put some big hard hitting carts through it then try again with whichever is failing to eject. Do they cycle ok if you manually cycle the gun, if they do check the gas ports and seals could be a bit of wad or case blocking it,a known failure on some guns is the spring in the valve snapping. anthonychez
I have had the gun 2 months shoot alot of magnum and 35g oro . Fires them all fine. The fiocci are 67 mm but never had pribs with the sx3. They are quite a woofty cart. But I cant change from duck carts to mags as easily as I could with the winchester. It seems to trap every cart by the brass flange of the cartridge behind the bolt but isnt a probkem when shooting it . I cant figure it out
Dominicrobed
Mine works fine with any 24 g and above Gamebore cartridge
Tim Kelly
There might be something about that particular case that doesn't suit the extractor. If it works with other cartridges then you'll just have to use a different cartridge.

I cant figure it out I should remove and check out the extractor under a magnifying glass for burrs or defects (being that its quite a new gun). If I found nothing then I should just use something else, that said I might also question how clean everything is as few clean all the right bits on Autos consistantly
BrowningDJC
My maxus is spot on with any 70mm cartridge, not designed for any shorter. Use clear pigeon through mine as have not trouble.
Churchill
I put a couple of hundred elay first's through my Maxus this weekend. 67mm cart 28g No8. Again faultless. As mentioned by Kent above, the cleaning is important on the Maxus. Make sure the 2 gas ports are clean, i use a pipe cleaner dipped in 009 Nitro powder solvent. Ensure the gas piston is clean, an old toothbrush and solvent will do the trick. Ensure the magazine tube is cleaned, a bit of scotch brite pad will do this. Clean out the action, ensuring the rails that the bolt carrier run along are clean, time for the toothbrush again. Clean the bolt and carrier, spray the extractor with a little wd40 and ensure its free to move. Now the important bit.. Lubrication.. ( Cue schoolboy Giggles ) Do NOT use grease inside the action or on the bolt carrier, the heat will bake it and your gun will start failing to cycle and you are left with a fired cart in the chamber as the action hasn't travelled far enough. Use a very thin smear of light gun oil on the carrier / rails like Ligia gun oil. Hope this helps, Regards
RAMMER BURT
mine doesn't like 65mm carts of any type or load but anything else its fine that also includes unloading, so maybe you maxus has a ploblem ?
Tim Kelly
The Maxus, like nearly every other gas semi, clearly states they're designed to shoot cartridges between 70mm and 76 or 86mm depending on chamber length. You might get away with some 67mm cartridges, but 65mm ones will usually not cycle reliably.
wildfowler.250
My maxus is spot on with any 70mm cartridge, not designed for any shorter. As above. Just stick to the correct cartridge length and it will be fine. Believe me, if it's properly dirty even these won't cycle properly. A decent 2 3/4 game load is all you need for most of your shooting anyway,(unless you're wanting to shoot clays?).
alastair0903
My maxus has never once jammed with a 67mm cartridge , it does however have the odd jam with 65mm cartridges but not enough for me to stop using them . I would think this is a problem with your particular gun
