shooterman49
evening all, looking for some advice on how to re-finish the synthetic stock on a 2nd hand styer pro hunter i just purchased as the previous owner let his son engrave a skull onto it. would it be possible to fill the damaged area and then re-paint it with a plastic type paint? any suggestions/ideas would be gratefully recieved as it is driving me crazy every time i look at it. regards pete. Dekers
Depending on the size and shape how about the likes of a BASC sticker over it. Maybe some sort of stock sock! Synthetic stocks are relatively easy to repair, but commonly it is not easy to hide the repair, painting/sealing synthetic stocks can often be a problem. Professional repairs will be expensive! Good luck, I would be pleased to hear how you get on, I have about a 5" gift from some barbed wire on my T3 Lite rear stock!
malkiserow
Can you find out from Styr exactly what polymer it is? Just a thought, there is a bumper repair paste for cars.... not tried it by may be worth a look/go?
jimmyb79
I bought a sako quad a while back which was pretty beaten up stock-wise. I had it hydro-dipped at a cost of around £70 and it was as good as new. If it's heavily gouged a bit of filler pre-dipping would sort. welshwarrior
Acuraglass with the correct colour dye in it will make a fairly good job but for a totally hidden how about filled then ceracoat or duracoat.
CharlieT
Fill with fiberglass or the like then rub down stock and spray with Krylon, won't be as durable as Duracote but it lasts well enough and is a fraction of the price and you can do it yourself. http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/krylon-spray-paint Edited November 11, 2013 by CharlieT

al4x
With this gun does it shoot well on a bipod or is the stock flexing enough to throw shots like a friends does? If it does it might be better just to add an aftermarket stock than repair the current one
shooterman49
hi al4x, haven't used it with a bipod yet, just been using front and rear bags when down the range. what stock did your mate get and where are they available as I have been looking on line and haven't found anyone who stocks styer stocks. regards pete. al4x
Last I heard he was still complaining to sportsman about it, being a new rifle he wasn't keen on spending for a new stock to make it shoot. The manufacturers view that it wasn't made to use with a bipod as Europeans don't use them wasn't going down well last I heard!
