I need to buy my Mrs a new motor.

Looking for (essential bits):

7 seats

auto box

Really good for families.

Not required:

4x4

Nice to have:

Good fuel economy

Cheap road tax

low insurance group

Comments:

Personally, I am not a fan of French cars as I always think they are nice new but cost a fortune when old - maybe wrong on this...?

Mrs often gets little scrapes/bumps to no point getting anything new or expensive.... so thinking of £7 K ish

I am worried as the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 Diesel auto seems to come out well !

What other options do you all like?

The C4 is a very good choice for the £7k budget, if you could push out to £9k you could get a mint new shape 3 yr old Grand Scenic 1.5 Dci Privilege that will eat everything else for breakfast in every department (they are well made too compared to Renaults of old) , avoid the 2.0 Dci as it only averages 35 mpg.

The only other thing I can think of is a Toyota Verso but you'll only get a petrol one for that and a fair bit older too plus they're spartan with unfunky looks.

Ford S max for me, very nice to drive almost fun on the lanes compared to other people carriers, looks good not normal people carrier boring design, normal ford reliability/issues and loads to choose from. The titanium version come with almost all the bells and whistles you would ever want.

My grandad had the C4 picasso from new and he was very impressed however it was a grandad car by being pretty boring.

Hum-v (Hummer)

1/4" plate steel.......great for supermarket...7 seats plus....machingun mountings....think they make a 2 wheel drive version.....no reversing sensors...but who the hell cares no front sensors ...who gives a ****......no airbags things just bounce off so whats the point.......
