Hello guys and gals!. Im Ian from south wales and have just joined the forum. I am a total new guy to sport shooting and look forward to learning a lot here and hopefully getting a quite a few tips and pointers and also making new friends. I am hoping to become a member of two clubs around my area for SG and rifle shooting.

Hi HDAV. Well once I get all kitted out and get use to this sport/hobby, one of the places I was thinking about asking permission is from one of our local Councellors who has quite a bit of land in Barry. Also the two farms adjacent heading down toward the A48 by the 5 mile Lane. Other than that, I am looking at joining a clay club in Dinas and the Tunnel club for rifles on Barry Island.... if its still there? hahahaha.

@bullet_boy and steve_b ..... does your signatures contain the equipment you own?

@olly .. thanks!

Thanks Boris. I havent been down there yet. Are there any stipulations?... like own weapon, own ammo, membership... etc etc?... How much is the membership? What weapons do they use?. Sorry for the questions.... I really must get out more. Its always the same though when you are on your own... nowt like having a mate that joins with you etc. :friends:

It's better (cheaper) to join if you shoot there often, I think they charge £180 pa membership or £20 a day (or part) to shoot. They have a few rifles but most shoot their own - a huge variety. They have a small shop on site selling rifles, ammo and a few other bits and pieces but no pressure to buy ammo or other kit from them. I went there on my own initially but they're all a friendly bunch and you soon feel part of the place.

Make an effort and get down there, you'll enjoy it! :good:

£180 ?... isnt that a bit steep?... I mean I dont really know club prices and obviously different clubs have different membership content to reflect their prices. Are SG clubs cheaper than Rifle clubs? Anyway, I will definately give it some thought. I will give you a PM when I think Im ready and maybe we can meet up? :good:

clay ground membership is often around £50 a year Nelson, SW200, treetops and save you £1 is a round shoot every week save money....... Rifle clubs you HAVE to be a member to use generally (very strictly limited "guest days") so you need membership to shoot............... Unlike most clay gorunds

@HDAV.... yes, I noticed that rifle clubs seem to be more expensive/elite/fussy in their membership plans.... is there any particular reason for this?...

HOme office rules oin being a HO approved club...... (that and target shooters.......................)
