sandspider
Another vote for Comp X - 21g or 28g makes little difference to recoil or hit percentage for me, but the 28g are easier to get hold of.
Alfred
English Sporters in fibre kick like hell though. I was using some today just to get rid I'm glad you posted that, I thought it was just me. I used them at the weekend and my shoulder is actually visibly bruised, I don't have a recoil pad fitted and I'm not used to shooting 100+ 28g's in a day so just thought it was me being soft but it didn't half start to hurt after a few boxes. No way could I shoot two days in a row with those unless I was only putting a box a day through it. They're cheap and a reasonable quality cartridge but ****** me they're crisp. I'm normally always keen on doing another round but my shoulder had had enough. I'll buy some 21g Comp X's for next time. berettadevon
have never found the english sporters in fibre to be a problem in the shoulder, i have a beretta ultralight (game gun i know, but i use it for everything) not once have i felt battered and bruised from firing 100+ in a day!! chady
Hull comp x 28 And personally I don't snort them!! So don't care what they smell like lol
Alfred
I used Comp X 21g yesterday, put 100 through it without any problems, lovely and light. And when I pointed it in the right direction it broke the clays out to a fair distance, so the cartridge is better than I am. Although saying that I also used Gamebore TMX 32g last night on duck and they didn't feel as bad as the English Sporter 28g, although obviously I only shot a box of them not 150. I'll try those sporters again next weekend and see how they feel, I've got 100 left to use up.
aris
Fiocchi Top 1 - just bought a few thousand - cheap - from Webber. What is the going price for fibres and what is the kick like compared to others?
Gordon R
Fibre - £166.54. Shot the Top 1s this morning alongside Gamebore and Eley Olympics. No more recoil than the others - I couldn't tell the difference. I used a fair proportion of skeet shells and was very impressed. Nice kills on birds where I would normally use trap shells. safc1973
Have tried most of the carts mentioned on here, agree that english sporter have a bit of a kick. fiocchi top 1 much softer shooting however had wads (fibre) twice get stuck in the barrel and heard it had happened to a couple of other people as well. shame as otherwise i liked them. just got 250 power blues to see what they're like. I'll try those sporters again next weekend and see how they feel, I've got 100 left to use up. Well I tried them again, I used 50 Comp X 21g and then switched to 50 English Sporters. By the time I'd got through 30 English Sporters I'd had enough, the Comp X gave me no recoil that I could actually notice, but the ES kicked so hard I seriously considered just throwing them away. In the end I decided just to use them up but I wish I hadn't bothered, they put my off my shot and my shoulder and arm were sore afterwards. I was so fed up I went home in a mood I've used Gamebore 32g and Victory Starlight 32g and neither kick like the English Sporter 28g, absolutely horrible things. In all other respects they're a decent cartridge, but they kick like a mule, its a really harsh recoil, not like the other cartridges in 32g. They obviously don't suit my Zoli. I've got 50 left and I'll save them for if I do a rough shoot or a small drive where I only get through a box all day.

In no time I had a throbbing headache, never get that from any other cartridge Yep, same here, my guns fit great but my jaw, cheek and arm were aching. Glad its not just me, those shells are nasty. The 21's broke clays when I aimed right, so I think thats what I'll stick with, unless anyone can recommend 24g that are easy on the shoulder. Someone was recently telling me to use 32g for clays, but I'd rather use the 21s and enjoy missing in comfort
washerboy
I like these in my spanish sxs, no recoil as such and i hit stuff http://www.hullcartridge.co.uk/intercomp.htm
simonix
I tried the gamebore evo in 24g, and thought they were very smooth in the recoil. Just as soft as the comp x 21g IMO.
