nevb
Has anyone ever seen this before? This vixen came to the whistle and sat at just over 100yrds, only problem was she sneaked up on us as we could not see any eye shine! It was easy to identify as a fox so I dropped it, only to find it had no eyes, the lids were not just stuck together but the eye balls seemed to be missing. It can't have been an issue as she was in very good condition.....the other two we shot on the same night in the same field were in no better health apart from they had eyes! Just wondered what could have caused such an injury/disease..
welsh1
That's very strange, I would have thought if it was born that way it wouldn't have survived for long, but she looks in good shape.i have shot a couple with one eye missing,or White where it has been damaged, but both is the first time I have ever seen that. Paul223
No never seen that before, what were her teeth like and roughly how old May be she was born blind and has hunted by scent and sound alone
Beardo
If it's both eyes I'd imagine it's some kind of disease/infection though I haven't a clue what

Paul223
May be its the picture? She looks heavy on the front end, and light on her rear, almost like she's never ran to much and does a lot of digging for mice and voles, I'd imagine if she had sight and lost it then she'd be wasted
simon6ppc
i shot one once the same as i saw her in the lamp i had no shine back to me so i had to check twice it was a fox, only this one was like grasshopper with white eyes, they can survive blind as this one was quite old,in fact twice that has happened,as much as we hunt the fox it is a serious survivor i will say that for sure.... Archie-fox
Just shows how they are cunning and adapt to things... Quite a thing to be a wild animal with no eyes and still survive in the wild..

nevb
Age wise I would have said she was one of this years cubs going by her pristine teeth, the other two from the same field were probably siblings....... strange thing nature, still I think we did her a favour as the weather gets harder she may have struggled to survive, thanks for the replies.
