Elmer Fudd 1
Just wondering if anyone knows which lenses you guys use for clays. I've seen a lot of people using either g26, positive red iridium, ice iridium and vr28.if anyone has experience with any of the above or know of a better colour feel free to shed some light. TIGHTCHOKE
I have a very dark brown set for looking in to low sun, a yellow set to add contrast in winter, an orange lens for blaze clays and a clear set to use on dull days and for eye protection. Will Poon
Hi Fudd , I don't use M frames , it's the Radarlock ones from oakley , I'm sure there similar, the lens are yellow and when it's bright G30 iridium . The picture on my avatar are my glasses
ehb102
I have just two filters. Mine clip on over my shooting glasses. I have a brown polarized lens that I wear nearly all the time and a custom purple tint for blaze clays. My custom purple tint decrease my perception time by a significant fraction of a second, that is I don't see the clay any earlier but my brain processes it more quickly. I got this from Edward Lyons of Flint & Partners who made it up to be exactly right for me. You can find him on Twitter @EdLyons682 or over at ShootClay.com. His sports vision assessment is so worth the investment. Anyway, you really have to find what's best for you by looking through lots of different lenses. I chose brown polarizing lenses over grey, but you might want something else. I know my custom purple lenses are completely different from another set I saw. Azzurri
For my money you can't beat your own eyes....that's why I use clear Oakley lenses 99% of the time, the sun has to be a big problem before i'll use my one dark pair of Oakley lenses. I still prefer shooting without any glasses at all as i'm convinced even clear lenses aren't optically perfect but rules are rules and we are no longer able to think for ourselves are we Azzurri

He never said they don't offer protection, just that he uses clear 99% of the time. I too find different colour lenses largely a waste of time but intend to buy a 46N purple thingy as so many people keep talking about it. I don't have a clear one but would use it in preference to tinted ones unless you're staring into the sun or really need a specific lens for a particular background. Incidentally if you look around a great many of the famous shooters don't wear glasses unless shooting registered targets where it's mandatory. Read it again, I quote "I still prefer to shoot without any glasses". I prefer to ride a motor cycle without a crash helmet ................... Will Poon
I was in the cage about to shoot a few weeks ago and I was about to start shooting when there were lots of other shooters waiting there turn, so I felt abit pressured and shot the A-F birds pretty damn quick got all of them with nice clean kills, as leaving the cage and letting the others take there turn I realised I didn't have my glasses on, coincidence or just better without glasses I wonder

There ARE circumstances where a given lens will help but I personally reckon on loosing a couple of birds occasionally because of poor frames, PW filter won't let me write what rhymes with bite. Read it again, I quote "I still prefer to shoot without any glasses". I prefer to ride a motor cycle without a crash helmet ................... I just happen to know what happens when things 'go wrong'. It is your choice. Your eyes do tend to work better without a plastic lense, no matter what the colour is, stuck in front of them !!! "I prefer to ride a motor cycle without a crash helmet........I just happen to know what happens when things 'go wrong'. It's your choice.... Well yes you could also say that about quite a few things...if you don't have protection you could end up in the **** but in years gone by we the shooter DID have a choice. Before the wearing of protective eyewear became compulsary most 'competition clay shooters' carried a pair of dark glasses with them for shooting into direct sunlight and if you the shooter thought you were in danger of being hit by a shard of broken clay on a stand you used something they used to call 'common sense' to determine weather you wore your glasses or not..... I preferred to shoot without glasses then and guess what...I still do now on pool stands, open shoots and practice where I consider it safe to do so, but I do stick to the rules for cpsa registered shoots. Hope that's a bit simpler for you to understand !!! Azzurri
PhilR
Bluey, you should wear those dark lenses more often then you wouldn't subject everyone else to your p***holes in the snow look.
