Thanks for the replies, 50 yards .22 and 100 yards .17 would be about what the distances i would be using them. Theres a 25 metre indoor range, localish i just thought i might be able to do them there and make slight adjustment in the field

I would check about that i don't know any indoor ranges round here that will let you use a .17HMR.

TVTS certainly does not so best of luck and i hope you get sorted... :good:

PS for got to add if i can be any help just drop me a line all the best for 2014

Two different things as I am sure you are aware, were do you seem to be having difficulty?

Well, I can work our range in yards if the target size is measured in yards...but I get lost when I try and use inches for the target size! Maths was never my strong point. How do I use inches for the target size, but get the range in yards? Cheers Kent.

Merry Christmas all.

**** me, I only wanted some good advice as i'm new to the game, now i feel like Ban Ki Moon.

Thanks to all, Have a great Christmas lads & Lasses, i'm sure I will be back asking more questions next year.

Lol! This thread is exactly why I sometimes don't bother even looking at PW for a while. But I'm hooked so I always end up coming back for more. Happy Crimbo fella!

hi chap, this is how i do it, set up some targets at varying ranges, lets say 25,50, 75, and 100 metres, if i zero at 75 m, then from the same position shoot the rest of the targets, that way i find out where the bullet hits and compensate from there. the Hmr has a longer range, it might help if you use a spotting scope or a buddy, saves walking the 300/400m round trip to see where the bullet strike is.
