secretagentmole
It was shot 40 minutes after sunset. You just try using illumination on a pheasant at roost, damned things go ballistic when I used the torch to lamp rabbits! Perfectly legal to shoot a pheasant with an air rifle, they have a much softer head than a crow and I don't have a dinner full of bird shot. I have full permission where I shoot, nobody raises game for miles around and those birds have usually spent years in the wild. They are prolific breeders! I shot a hen a couple of weeks ago! truflex
Not sure air rifle but it is illegal with cross bow, automatic and semi auto weapons, as well as with any illuminating device (lamp or torch) including night vision! Can't shoot a pheasant with a semi auto? really?
FatherandSon
so you can't shoot a pheasant with a semi auto (hatsan sx3 etc)?? didn't know that colin Sorry should have stated except under the terms of the general license. shootnfish
Jbs , i know he wouldn't be shooting them flying with an air rifle i was talking about the pheasant not being in a tree roosting. Maybe he stalked it no less sporting than having them driven over your head.

belly47
there is a difference between sporting shooting and hunting. hunting is about making the shot as easy as possible to obtain a clean kill. perfectly fine with an air rifle, well done good shooting

-Mongrel-
Can't shoot a pheasant with a semi auto? really? Sorry should have stated except under the terms of the general license. WCA 1981, section 5, para (1), C, iii Yes, really! Well, no, not really actually. The actual situation is that It is an offence to shoot wildfowl or game with a self-loading shot gun having a magazine capacity of more than two cartridges. MAGAZINE CAPACITY. Therefore two in the magazine and one in the chamber is fine, as per all SGC semi auto shotguns.
