Ttfjlc
Hi all I've been struggling to find anywhere local that sells the above mentioned so I was wondering if anybody on here has removed the lead shot from some standard shells and replaced them with bismuth? snarepeg
I reload my own in steel, wad expensive at 11 pence each but cheaper from Siarm, I don't see any problem changing to bismuth from lead, still cheaper than buying? figgy
Nice looking load that. Great all rounder for decoying or roost shooting. Think I'd go for number 4 shot for the extra pellets in the pattern. Figgy Edited January 17, 2014 by figgy

Figgy i would to, small shot pays off in small gauges, just due to lack of payload. i wouldnt call this a goose load, but i bet it wouldnt stop anyone having a crack at one. I seem to recall a certain magazine doing an article about 28 bore steel shot and the writer taking a goose with small steel.

figgy
I wouldn't take a goose unless at very short range like flying just above head, not really a goose load, I was thinking ducks decoyed or flight pond and decoying pigeons even the odd bunny. A bit of a do all cartridge for general shooting that is legal for wildfowl as its got the speed. Suppose if loading a fair amount it should be a cheap one to do, apart from steel wads. Soul you use a steel wad or just line a normal one with Mylar to the top of shot column. Figgy Edited January 17, 2014 by figgy

That's interesting, I always thought the feasibility of steel duck shells started at 20ga previously. if that patterns well it could be real handy, I have thoughts on loosing all my double 12's for a little double but its been the steel thing that has put me off in the main
Guest cookoff013
just use the wad it says. its new, developed just for the 28 steel guys in states. if the gun is steel proofed, why not? use real open chokes and maybe test some shells like #6-#5-#4 steel, its not long range cartridge. Ttfjlc
Not sure about steel lads as my sons gun is an old sxs, I only asked about bismuth as since it has similar qualities to lead I thought I could take the lead out of some express cartridges. They have a roll turnover with a shot cup
snarepeg
Ihave been using the 28 steel loads that C&G reckomend, 16 gram of 5s 21.5grains of cbo and they have shot very well, ok they do have their limits on range compared to12guage but have shot some very good duck this season with them, very tight patterns and the 28 a pleasure to shoot, reload your own for a fraction of the price of new. John CBO read CSBO.

pestcontrol1
its a good speed for a small amount of powder
snarepeg
21.0/1.36 CSBO. Tps wad4mmcork filler. 16 grams of shot. 1418 VM. Fps-ms1368.fps 641.60 pressure. This is copied from the C@G sheet the gave me. It works for me, have fired 120 cartridges with this and they work well,, on the ducks I connected to and the odd pheasant that came thru on the duck drive. Guest cookoff013
at that pressure there is alittle room for more speed. cip states 830bar max average and 950 maximum single stat. that little gun load is running quite well. thanks for the data. although the fps/ms is misleading??
