Suffolk shooter
I'm sitting here looking out of the office window watching braches come off the trees surrounding the car park and hitting cars. People dodging them as they try and get out for lunch. This is in Essex near Colchester. Definitly winds over 80MPH!!!! SS Edit: Power gone off twice in last ten minutes (13.20pm) and now there's a small tree lying across the road next to the entrance of ur business estate. Baldrick
I work in shipping, so weather-related incidents have been all over the wires today. It's a 275-metre long containership that's in trouble off the Lizard, not a tanker, hence the lack of squawking from the ecomentalists about oil spills. According to the shipmanager, whom my boss just called, It's been holed by a 'submerged object' and is now listing to port. It's still very much afloat though, contrary to the alarmist BBC articles this morning. I'm not sure if any other forumites have also served at sea, but 9 metre waves and 50 knot winds are deeply unpleasant conditions to endure in a ship, let alone in a life raft.
