Lord Geordie
Most of those would be better off ringing the local police station IE fallen trees on roads so they can get the city services out to deal with it rather than the fire dept. Country_est
Fine LG if 1) you know where you are and what is the local station and its number. 2) you can be prepared to wait for AT LEAST 24hrs for some one to turn up. 3) you could even find the council / highways agency number to tell them about the tree. With all the cut backs and station closures the Fire service is to thin now to be expected to attend the likes of fallen trees UNLESS there has been an injury. When it comes to Electrical lines then the Electrical distributor should be called to deal with it. Police should be informed rather than the fire service and dep on the merit of the call THEN the police can forward the call to the appropriate services OR should ring out a Local tree surgeon under most other cases. henry d
Where I am you cant phone directly to the police station anymore, you always go through a call center in Glasgow. If Geoff Ord gets his way all of Scotlands Fire calls will go to between 1 & 3 call centres in C.Scotland.
