Pigeons on there backs

I always turn shot birds breast down. Do you find birds flair off if you leave then on thir Backs. woodfordpigeon

Sometimes they do sometimes they don't ,but i do turn them over or get the dog to bring them in when there's a quiet spell. But sometimes nothing puts them off.

I used to but I read a book written years ago by an old Pigeon shooter and he used to just throw his dead decoy Pigeons around any old how when he set up.

 

Birds still come in but also, sometimes, flare away but I've had that happen whatever setup I'm using. Last week I'd already shot some birds which were laying on their backs and I didn't get a chance to turn them before other birds came in. It didn't seem to deter them so I guess it's a matter of choice.

Very occasionally it seems not to matter how they end up but mostly I find breast up or crash landed birds with loads of loose feathers seem to flare off incoming birds so tend to clear up.

Bird on it`s back always spooks them off for me,suppose it depends how much hassle pigeons get in your area.

Pigeons on their backs only attract the cock birds, they think the birds on their backs are hens so they can dive straight in ;-)

I was flashing red lights. They did bring the undesirables but. I want pigeons (your not telling me all).
