I have a new one on my land, I have no ferrets but was thinking they make the rabbits flush. Any ideas? The fish
MBW
There's only one way to find out....... I know my grandad used to swear by a burning newspaper down a few holes in a warren to shift a laid up ferret if it was going to be a stupidly deep dig and he couldn't be ***** waiting, be interesting to find out if you do manage to bolt any but it's probably worth checking that its legal to do under wildlife and countryside act or animal welfare laws just to keep yourself right
The Mighty Prawn
If they're the same we used in paintball you might find they bolt but you won't see them as they kick out a ridiculous amount of smoke in the open so in a warren you might find the smoke monster from lost reaching out at you. Also think I read its toxic just in case it taints the meat at all?
Dougy
I doubt it would be toxic if used in paint balling, not like there going to issue the players with mustard gas. I'd go for it personally, what have you got to loose, I bet it could be a laugh seeing a dozen bunnies break out of the smoke in all directions. pegasus bridge
I've got some of those smoke pellets used to test flues , I would be interested to see of this works .
colin lad
think it would be something to see a dozen smoking rabbits bolting across the fields as Dougy says a doubt it would be toxic if they are used for paintballing colin
EMcC
What colour are your smoke grenades as some are blue, green, yellow and red. I'm sure it would give the rabbits a bit of colour on their way out. !!
The Mighty Prawn
Weirdly it might still be toxic even though used in paintball as it's intended to be used outside and the assumption would be no one would be likely to consume enough to suffer any effect, I was thinking more in a warren you might just end up with a load of suffocated bunnies underground. I work with smoke machines and they are all evaporated oil based now as there is no smoke that is not toxic so it's damage limitation at best. Bleeh
Smoking rabbits out doesn't work, they'll lay up and die.If it did work, we would of lost the art of using ferrets against rabbits just the same way we have mostly (thankfully) lost the art of using ferrets against rats.
