dazza
Bought myself a CZ .22 rimfire and would like some advice on which scope I should buy for it? Whats your recommendations I have around £200 to spend. I haven't a clue about scopes and am a complte beginner with rifles so all advise will be greatly appreciated. Any links to sites would be great :look: Also which makes of ammo would be best? Thanks in advance

Axe
Dazza, Any decent 3-9 x 40/50 scope will you do you. My personal choice would be one from the Nikko Stirling range. :look:
Oly
For me it has to be Leupold, lifetime garentee and fogproof...whatever you get ensure it has paralax adjustment (it's sooo much better...once you've had it you won't want to live without it :look: )! Leupold also do rimfire specific scopes...with distance adjustments which adjust the crosshairs accordingly (obviously not 100% accurate as all rifles & rounds are different)... but it's very handy and good that it's rimfire specific as the drop on a rimfire round is obviously different to the drop on a centrefire round. Like the man says...buy from the US if you can, loads cheaper. Best way is to find a friendly USA website and get them to ship it...just be aware of the import tax...unless they mark it accordingly! Eley is good ammo too.
Peter_HMR
Just after buying my CZ .17hmr and did spent a lot of time on the net looking around to see what everyone had and what was rated the best and came to the conclusion that for me the Mueller APV was the best in my price range. Most of my info came from american sources and practically everyone told me that its the best scope out there for the 100pound mark but is as good as anything you'll buy up to 200pounds http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MAPV451440.html
Oly
The more you can spend on optics the better...cheap optics degrade with time. This makes more expensive optics cheaper per year than cheap ones!

Frank
As for ammo dazza, i find and most folks on here, the winchester Subsonics, the best. Accurate and hard hitting. Frank.

30-6
I am in the same boat as DAZZA, and looking for a scope for a .22 rimmy. On a recent thread one member suggested that a fixed magnification is better especially for lamping, as messing about with a AO parallax is a nuisance, (I have a HAWKE with AO on an FAC air rifle and do find it fiddly especially at night), and am leaning towards a fixed magnification. Any member use a fixed scope as listed below? http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetai...1244&cat=84 http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetai...1250&cat=84 PS - I agree the Whitetail Classic recommended is a great scope, but has an AO. Do they do it in fixed magnification?
Dunkield
30-6, Axe uses one of these and rates it highly, have a search through old threads on the subject, or Pm him

Do they do it in fixed magnification? Just set it up how you want it then leave it alone But you can always change the mag if you wish. If Dazza don't like the scope i'll eat my hat. Dazza you will be more than well pleased with the scope I can't rate them more highly. PELTMAN
30-6
Pelt man "Just set it up how you want it then leave it alone" Yeah but I thought with parallax adjustment you had to dial in for a clear picture at various ranges, but with a fixed mag it is set to be clear at all ranges. Yep sorry my mistake, You do have to change the Parallax, but in percentage of loss of game/vermin through having to change the parallax is minimal. If i'm woodland stalking i have the lens ready to around 30yards then it don't need much changing. If i'm out in the field its set at 100yards. You do get to know your areas that you shoot over & tend to set the lens to what you know most of your shots will be taken at, but yes you do have to alter it, i've never had a problem. After all if it was such a big issue they wouldn't make them. PELTMAN
Peter_HMR
A scope with variable mag doesnt nessecarily mean it has AO alot of them come without it. I have AO on mine and prob would prefer set paralex but at rimfire ranges paralax is negligble i leave mine set for 50 and shoot away!
