allergies real or not

I only know of one allergy I have and its cats

A few minutes in someones house and I can tell if a cat lives there as I start to get hay fever like symptoms

the strange thing is its worse if its a black and white cat

I used to get terrible hay fever symptoms from cats, it's not so bad nowadays but as children my brother (who also suffered) and I spent many miserable days and nights at relatives houses who denied that their precious little moggies could possibly have had anything to do with our symptoms.

I have an aversion to people with no feet, does that make me lacktoes intolerant?

You sir, are going to hell

One thing I have a severe allergy (or is it an tolerance?) to is oysters. It's such a shame because I absolutely love them, but I have fallen foul of them on numerous occasions, and now I steer well clear.

Watch these dairy replacement milks lots have very high hidden sugar levels

im already a porker so it doesnt make that much difference :)

dairy free alternatives always have to be watched as many are soy based and a lot of people who are lactose intolerant are also soy intolerant, im ok with a bit but soy milk doesnt agree with me if i have to much

Thanks for the replies most emphatically yes vote for allergies and intolerance's, I can honestly say that no one in my family or friends have a food allergy, we do mostly seafood meals and often have people saying I can eat crab but not prawns or vice versa sea food is fraught with problems and yes Kent we also do dairy free and gluten free meals, i really feel for some of the post's, penicillin allergy must be a serious problem and Penelope's allergy well is that black or golden Labrador?, it does seem that we get increasing numbers of sufferers year on year , cheers

Only Black as that's all I've had, but I see no reason why any other colour wouldn't have the same effect. Weird that it is just Labs though.

Me too - have a 'medic alert' bracelet to prevent automatic penicillin injection to prevent infection -if I'm unconscious.

As said, waking up dead would be no fun.

My daughter is the same, it's a pain the *** as she suffers from bouts of tonsillitis, takes weeks of 'inferior' antibiotics to clear her up.

Is it the drooling at mealtimes or the oils in the hair? Perhaps PW lab owners could all send you some sample hair or drool then you might find a line of these great fowling dogs that you are not effected by. Worst thing about the lab is the sneaky eye lick to your left eye when you both sat in a muddy hole someplace

I suspect it's dried saliva on the coat where they have cleaned themselves. IIRC a cat allergy is because of the dried saliva on the hair and not the hair itself that causes the reaction.

I have a better idea, get them to send me dogs (well bitches really) and I'll keep the one that I'm not allergic too. :good:

Ah, the sneaky lick trick always catches you unawares.
