Spoke to Nigel Silcock earlier - after seeing the announcement

Seems been in the wind for a While looking for more Air Gun Manufactures

Doubt if they will go for Specials - more to promote a growing market - especially Exports

He's understanding will be run as Seperate Company's part of a Growing Shooting Group

If I ran Daystate I wouldn't bother announcing this in the press-simply hike the price and make the guns less reliable and we would soon guess

Was not a Daystate decision , more of UK announcement @ a International Trade Show

Never owned a Daystate - never appealed to me as own a HW100 :good:

But do own Brococks - which do give good Service - I also have a growing number on my Club Ranges - Brococks

I was also a Brocock Dealer before VCR Act - And always gave me a Good Service -

Aware of Daystate issues when covering Chris @ Pax Gun's and Members moans and growns

Nevermind !!Lol

They don't know what they are missing !

I love my Daystate guns !

Over the years I have Shot most known Air Guns doing Pellet tests

Alway's had issues with Daystates - be it magazines - cocking - I have Shot them in Fixed Target brackets and as Gun's on outside Ranges

I have also seen many others have isues with them - At Club when owners had issues and working in Pax when customers returning them

As a Target Club the Mark 3 was a favorite until it got wet or dusty - Remember having Five on for Sale table one week

Thankfully We shooters do have a Choice of Different Gun's - and a right to buy the ones We shooters Want and can get to work out of the box

I used to own a Brocock Enigma Deluxe in .22. It was a good gun; had a nice stock and a Weihrauch barrel so was very accurate. The only thing I didn't like was the power curve on it and the fact it was unregulated. Other than that, would shoot bang on every time if you filled it to 180 bar. Had plenty of Woodies with it in its time!

Brocock have always struck me as a little cheapo and behind the times when compared to air arms, bsa etc. This takeover is good news as their quality should go up. A friend of mine once met the owner of Brocock, sold him a car I think, and I must admit he said he was a bit of a stuck up pillock.

bob , I can and cant see where your coming from bud,, yes I agree that shooters have a choice but lets be honest about this, sometimes choice has to be made via budget,

not all airgun enthusiasts can afford a daystate air rifle, not even one of the cheaper ones new because lets be honest £700 is a lot of money to spend on an air rifle that's for sure,

when you say WE SHOOTERS do you mean shooters as a whole or just the ones from your club ?

I can honestly say that ever since I was a young lad and using an underlever .177 of my late fathers I have been fascinated with air rifle shooting and hunting, I have always saved to afford the best I could but I was always one to try before you buy,

I have owned many air rifles in my time be it air arms,, bsa,, and the german weihrauch hw80 (a superb springer) these have all stood the test of time, some have been good and some not so good,

now ,, my first daystate was the Huntsman classic , then I bought an electronic daystate the Airwolf, and all I can say bob is since I bought these rifles the only problem I have had is that from the factory the power was set a bit low,

I have never had one other problem with either rifle in any way shape or form, they have been totally faultless, accurate, and a pleasure to hold, mount and shoot, to me Daystate rifles are a superb bit of kit, yes some do have faults but don't other rifles,

the one thing I have found is they are quality rifles and really are wonderful to handle and shoot, my AAs410 was a cracking rifle until I used then bought the huntsman classic, every thing about the huntsman is class,

the s410 feels like a cheap nasty air rifle compared to the huntsmans smooth cocking action yet the s410 is a fantastic rifle and accurate also but it does not have that smooth classy feel the huntsman has,

now when you put the huntsman next to the airwolf then the airwolf is in a higher league again, it just feels far superior to the huntsman and the trigger mech is unreal, the bolt action feels like it has been stolen from a rolls Royce engineer its super smooth, but it just selects the next pellet,

I was all against electronics on air rifles but I have been seriously converted, it is the way forward but I admit not everyones cup of tea,

it does always seem to be people whom have never owned daystate rifles that are first to tell how bad they are, first to slag daystate off, first to pull them down,,and last but not least,,first to say they would never own one,,

well to those people whom do slag daystate off, you are welcome to come and try my daystates out in hunting situations and then tell me how rubbish they are

it just wont happen

My daystate classic is sooooo nice and has taken plenty of rabbits.

It did break when i dropped it in the bath. Shot a squirrel through the window then placed the rifle against the taps :innocent: to go out to retrieve victim and the rifle fell down bent the bolt. :sad1:

Ooops. But daystate fixed it in a jiffy for a few quid Phew.

Peter Martineau has joined the Brocock ensemble as well! Now he was in charge at BSA.

Remember John Bowkett fell out of favour at BSA?

Anybody who has had a gun blueprinted by JB recently can verify the tale that he has been working "on a secret project for another air rifle maker"....

Be funny if it was Brocock would it not?

Doubt it - Brococks did ask JB about Designs but they did not accept his Charges

Speaking to Nigel - He Only got the Call Sunday about Peter Martineau - Was aware they was bringing in their own MD

But expects to still be around for a While - completing orders etc

The collecting of companies within a single market means you control the market better. Keeping prices were you want them and limiting the competition within brands. One thing it is not is a gain to the consumer however its spun. Beretta / Benelli? Tika /Sako? Winchester / Browning? Can you see the common thread?
