Just about to get kitchen redone and will need the usual built in cooking appliances I.e. Oven and hob.

Is there anyone in that line of business that can recommend suitable makes and also best places to buy - either online or shop?

Cheers

Stu

another vote for AO.com. super service, fast delivery and excellent value.

only negative is they try to flog you extended warranty/insurance (probably to get a bit more revenue after the cheap sale).Just tell them you are heavily insured, old for new, via your bank account and they leave you alone

I bought my cooker from AO and the delivery was terrible. He phoned me about 6 times and I gave him directions to find me. Finally got to my house and out stepped 2 grumpy Geordies! While one did the paper work I had to help the other clown to carry cooker into house, and as soon as it was in door he just dumped it. Then they asked me can I use your toilet. I said sorry mate water is off! They then asked where can I turn the lorry, I said just turn it on the grass down there, to which he replied, I cant, I might get stuck, so I told him to reverse up the dirt track he entered by. At this point I went in house and left them to it. If that's the kind of delivery company AO use, I wont be using them again!

Who is supplying your units ? If its a mainline kitchen supplier get them to quote for them.

Quality depends on what you want to pay obviously. A good standard range at the lower end would be Whirlpool which are easily repaired but generally robust and reliable.. in the middle range Neff and the top end Siemens or Bosch.

The pricey Marques are very good of course but when they need repair parts can be horrendously expensive.

I have fitted most make of appliances in over 5000 houses in the last 35 years and Neff have always been popular and very reliable. However most modern manufacturers design and manufacturing quality control means they are all very good apart from the really cheap manufacturers which are inferior and might not last too long.

Where are you ?

www.thekitchenunit.biz

I can definitely recommend this...supplied my kitchen at better quality than the big players and blew them away on price. Nice to support a small family business than the big corporations.

Get the bigs guys out to do their free design...get the quote, go to the kitchen unit and save thousands. Sorted. They will also make bespoke sizes so you are not limited by catalogue sizes for any awkward spots, which was great for the unit my boiler is in.

Northumberland!

Not chosen supplier yet, but got howdens out tomorrow for a measure up.

Howdens will supply a badged appliance called Lamona..these are sourced from a variety of suppliers, Gdha , Beko, Electrolux etc and can often be bought at discounted rates form Howdens...use it as a bargaining tool. They are generally good quality...Howdens don't want the maintenance hassle of selling inferior products.... Plus if they are built in you know they will fit the unit dimensions precisely.

Howdens, benchmarx and wren all take the Micky on prices...even when the sale is on. Teamtractor will sort you out, even if you have pay for a courier or hire a van it will be a lot cheaper.

Benchmarx beat howdens on price by a fair bit when I gave them the opportunity to compete...they did quote a range cooker at cost price but with the units being more expensive it wiped out the saving.

All I've been told to say is check out the reviews on b&q , wren( MFi) etc on google.

If you'd like a price we have 50+ doors and 300+ worktops in our showroom/ workshop

Work tops start at £39 and 1000mm base units with solid 18mm backs and plastic lipped edges are £65 . :)

Solid beech tops start around £130 a length and will beat any competition .

Feel free to check out the website as I try to sort a good price for pw members :)
