Fieldsports
Excellent job and decoys look really effective. Can you make me a set for 15 quid? They are very easy to make honest ! The most important thing is the carbon rods in 1mm, 1.3mm or 1,5mm comes in 1000mm lengths from RC control shops or online very very cheap. (I tried high tensile fencing wire and the wings do not flap good with fence wire so I scrapped that Idea) The grey roofing under felt that is waterproof and rip proof was given to me by a mate as they have loads of cut offs that is waste to them. I stiffened the body and tail a little using laminating pocket plastic stitched on to it. The body can be made from scrap correx board like the stuff for sale signs are made from or Acrylic foam filled sheet that is ultra light and cuts very easy ( That's what I used as there is a nearby plastics factory to me and he is more than happy to let me in his scrap cuttings skip ) Then just stick a pigeon decoy head on it after you cut it to shape ....most people will give you the old knackered decoys free. That's about it Job done really and stick a bit white on the wings and neck tone the wing tips and tail tips with a bit darker grey. I got some matt sample pots as you do not need much paint. About a quid a pot. You need a black and a white to mix to make the right tone of grey. Easy really and cheap as chips to do.

Fieldsports
Nice one Fieldsports might have a crack at that. ta P.T Pleased your going to have a shot. You will be surprised at how easy it is. At the moment because I only have to buy the rod for the wings they cost me about £2 per decoy. I am sure you will have some stuff lying about or be able to "spraff" some stuff off mates to get you on track. Just ordering some more rods now from the flying dog RC shop ...going to try some 1.5mm rods this time, I can not see why they will not work just as effective but will have an advantage in the wind. Cheers lads. Happy DIY decoys.

Fieldsports
They are better than the overpriced shop jobbies, well done. Thanks mate. I am going to begin some more tomorrow. I will alter the design slightly which I think will simplify the pattern more and make them flap like hell. I will keep you lot updated just in case some one wants to try and save a few quid. Thanks Steve

Fieldsports
Just a quick update !!!!! I have tried the decoys in the field in really strong wind.I have 1.5mm carbon rods in the wings,I am using small hollow fiber glass tent poles that are compact here is a short clip using 3 short poles on each side and then reducing them to 2 short poles on each side. The pigeons decoyed really good to both set ups !So my dilemma is weather to use 2 poles per side or the 3 per side.I also tried these stationary facing into the wind, just letting them flap like hell and that also worked just as well.Do I need these on a magnet or will these be effective enough on a floater. Thanks Steve Edited May 17, 2014 by Fieldsports
Fieldsports
Oh forgot to mention.I had this out and it was pulling birds from at least 600 to 800 yards away. Not all the time but yes this was a magnet "today" !I had it front wind of my other 10 flocked shell decoys and it preformed really good.I watched birds go out their way to bend back in the wind to have a closer look.I was only trying it on a scrappy old turnip field that birds were not feeding on but their was a nearby flight line.So I thought I would have a go.Got 24 woody's and a ferrel so it was worth trying my decoys in this situation. They like the decoys for sure.StevePS: Would love to loose the golf bogy to carry magnet, batteries,If these would be effective enough on a bouncer it would be better.I really hate carrying batteries.
