snipers eye
all i use is patchworm on me .17hmr.and 22,never used rods, never had problems
peek-at
22LR doesnt take much cleaning. I just use a pull through with cotton patches with a dab of gun oil until clean. Very occasionally do same with some Hoppes 9. (Ive even used kitchen roll instead of patches although you need to watch out for tearing and lodging in the bore)

Dekers
Never bought a cleaning "KIT" for a rifle, they never have in what I want, or have too much, or are just plain daft money, or....... Good rod, brush, solvents, patches etc and you will not go far wrong!
NickB65
I have been told by three gunsmiths to only clean it when the zero shifts..... so far I have out 800 rounds down the barrel and its still sweet....

bruno22rf
About a metre of fishing line with a loop tied on the end-piece of cotton about 25x10 mm soaked in WD40 and pulled through is all I have ever used.
kent
Just use different solvents as you don't need to remove copper. A regular high quality rod and patches, perhaps a nylon brush on a bad one. Remember to clean the action and the bolt as rimfires are messy little critters. REMEMBER A BORE GUIDE When I clean, I clean no half hearted 10 min jobs I want it back to the bear metal. Half harte cleaning of rimfires leads to threads were people say " I have ruined my rimfire through cleaning". I don't clean after every use as I do with cf and I don't oil the bore in storage (I think the bullet lube is sufficient). They do seem to need running back in as the zero tends to shift around a little biddy bit as the tube re-leads and re-waxes more evenly through the bore, cant prove it but I can demonstrate it, mine takes about a box . I clean if the rifles has got wet, done a full brick or if I want to switch ammo as for some reason certain brands don't mix well in a barrel (cci segmenting are one that I find needs running in as sole bullet from clean)
