WGD
If you're lamping go for the Burris with the bigger objective, if it's daytime go for the higher mag to suit the hmr/wmr barrels available.
jeffo223
I've got a sightron STAC 2.5-17x56 on my sako quad 17hmr and it's a really good scope and suits the 17hmr very well, glass is good, tracks very well on the turrets, plenty of aim off mark's if you're not dialling the shot's and works very well at dusk/night with lamp or night vision. bicykillgaz
I'd get a meopta meopro 6-18x50 with side parallax and range finding reticle, I was going to get one for my hornet before I decided to sell it.
telf
the meopta and sightron are slightly out of my budget, thats why i wittled them down to the choices above,i may get it from the USA,as even with the duties their still a bit cheaper, and will be for daytime use
Loki
Hi If buying in from the US you may want to also consider the Zeiss Conquest range - good scopes for the price can be found over there. Come up for sale pre-owned over here too - not too often mind. Lifetime warranty but any work has to be carried out that side. Cheers Edited May 21, 2014 by Loki

rwade545
I have a bushnell legend 4.5-14x44, easily the one of the clearest scopes i've used even at 14x magnification it is superb. Good clarity at dusk and under lamping. Has the thick reticle with thin parts just at centre that is easy to use at night. Very good build quality. Got mine on sale new for around £200 from sportsmansguncentre few months ago. well worth it at that money.
bullet boy
Simmons WTC scope be nice on your Quad. Lovely value for money glass that won't break the bank!
welshwarrior
If you look around you can get a S&b 6x42 for £225 great scope for a rimfire or stalking rifle.
bicykillgaz
Meopta fixed mags can be found from about £120-£180 for 6x42 or 7x50 and are excellent value if you go down that route. I also had a meopta meopro 4-12x50 which I picked up (and stupidly sold) for £240 there cracking scopes for the money.
WGD
If you look around you can get a S&b 6x42 for £225 great scope for a rimfire or stalking rifle. 6 mag isn't enough for the ranges hmr can shoot out to given the size of the target, IMO of course. Watch you objective size, too large and you'll need to remove the scope to change the barrel. P.s. I have a quad with a 6 x 42 scope on it. welshwarrior
6x42 shoots fine on my HMR out as far as I can shoot and was fine on my 308 to 250m It's this modern we must have more mag more toys etc. British army used a 6x42 s&b pm1 out to over 800m. WGD
As I said, it's my opinion. Why hamper yourself with 6 mag when 8 or 10 makes all the difference and is readily available. 6 mag on a stalking rifle I have no issue with, the target is normally not much further than a long range hmr shot, and damn site bigger. Perhaps we should all go back to coal fires and outside toilets? Edited May 22, 2014 by WGD
welshwarrior
Don't like coal fires I prefer log fires chimney stays clearer. I've got rid of all my vari scope now use 6x42 on all my rifles except my 243 that has a spare 8x56 on or it would have worn a 6x42.
Snakebite72
Try one of the Richter Optik scopes....I've got a 3-12x50 on my .22lr and a 6-24x50 on my .17hmr...had them both for five and six years respectively. They have illuminated mil dot reticles, they are parallax adjustable, nice fine cross hairs and they've never let me down...and they're less than £100! The only thing is the light gathering capabilities of the 6-24x50 isn't brilliant around dusk...it's okay, but not brilliant. They're both fine with the lamp. Just watch out for an eBay seller 20-20mobileyes....I tried to buy a 8x56 Richter off him for my .223 and he stitched me up a treat, said he had stock, took my money and then didn't send me the scope...took weeks and weeks to get a refund.
