Easyhit type of "bead"

This question has nothing to do with whether they are good, bad; the dog's danglies or otherwise. It is about what effect,if any, they have on point and swing etc.

I do not have one of these gadgets. Nor need one. It is more a case of one of those niggling academic questions on which I would welcome PW members views please.

The Q is: If you have a 30" barrel with a brass bead at the end then it seems to me that effectively you are point and swinging a 30" barrel. But, if you have one of the Easyhit type gadgets which can range in length from 71mm (2 3/4 ins) to 131mm (5 ins) and if the end of fibre optic red dot that you see is in effect anything from 2 3/4 to 5 ins nearer to you from the end of the barrel than a bead would be then, in effect, are you not shortening the barrel by the length of the bead? And, is so what is the effect?

Just can't get my head around this one so views please. Thank you.

I believe that their point is that the red dot can only be seen by the right eye when shooting right handed. Thus, if you're left eye dominant, it will force the right eye to sight.

This is precisely the correct answer, but unfortunately to a different question :D

As far as barrel length goes, I wouldn't think it would make much difference at all.
