Jim_gsxr1000
I thought id take this opportunity to do a step by step striping and cleaning guide with the hope it can be of some use to someone with one of these guns! This is my first attempt at a step by step guide, so be gentle Tools needed for this job 12Ga cleaning kit 3mm pin punch 5mm pin punch Small hammer (I used a small ball pein) plenty of cleaning tissues disposable gloves This is my Hatsan Escort 12 GA Before starting work I have made sure the weapon is safe and clear First unscrew the end cap Anti clockwise from the muzzle end of the gun to loosten Once the cap is off the fore-end can be pulled forward and placed to one side The mag tube can now be seen with the main spring, piston and barrel collar The Barrel Can now be removed if the barrel seems a bit tight it helps sometimes to pull the charging handle back slightly Now remove the O-Ring and keep in a safe place The piston can now be removed and placed to the side The next step is to remove the charging handle This can be tricky you have to line up the little notch of the handle with the recess in the bolt Once the Charging handle is out the bolt carrier and linkage can be slid out of the receiver and of the end of the mag tube The spring should now be removed and cleaned The tube can be cleaned by wiping with a clean paper towel and some bore solvent Using a 3mm punch and a small hammer the trigger mechanism retaining pins can be knocked out once the pins are out the trigger mechanism can be dropped out The receiver can now be wiped out using a clean paper towel and some bore solvent The bolt can now be lifted at the back and pushed forward to remove it To remove the firing pin, push it forward from the back as if the hammer was hitting it, and the small retaking pin should fall out, this will release the firing pin Heres the removed firing pin, note the small notch which has to be lined up with the pin for reassembly Here is the bolt lock, just slides out once the firing pin is removed Rebuilding the blot is just the reverse of taking it apart all the parts should be given a light coat of oil The trigger mechanism is now inserted and I use a 5mm punch in one of the holes to align the second hole to get the pin started The next pin should then be inserted Using the 3mm punch the pins should be GENTLY be tapped in until flush with receiver The slide should now be given a coat of oil and the The bolt assembly should then be given a coat of oil The spring is then fitted over the magazine tube the bolt and linkage is then slid over the magazine tube and in to the receiver the bolt and linkage is the lined up and the charging handle is then clipped back in and this holds the bolt in the piston is now refitted (note the piston has been cleaned with bore solvent the o ring has also been cleaned and placed back on) At this point I cleaned the barrel with a 12Ga brush and checked the gas ports were clear in the barrel collar ( I also removed the choke and gave the threads a light coat of oil) the magazine tube and piston were given a coat of oil the fore-end was then cleaned out with a paper towel and slid back on the end cap was then placed and tightened up in the clockwise manor from the muzzle end Gun All Cleaned Tools I used

wraivi
Well done Jim, nice guidance on that. A nice 1/2" wide paintbrush (dry) is also great for brushing out your trigger group to get rid of dust, grass seeds and unburnt powder etc. Good job tho' mate. mossberg-operator
Got same gun. Good method. Well done! Just two things:First I had 250 shots in a few hours, no jam, 1 feeding issue, dirty gun still operating fine. Second: what kind of pins are You using? Not flat ends I guess. Where from? Thx. When fitting the two pins back in the action refit them from the opposite side to the ejection port ... Why .... Well you see the carrier pins ( Hollow tubes ) the pins run through have clips in slots on the port side and if you don't line the action up correctly you can easily break off the end of the tube.
