Dr D
Had this unusual woody in the bag on friday. Funny thing was that I saw a similar coloured bird about week ago miles away! Never shot one like this before.
EMcC
What colour was the ring on it's leg, if you span the wing out, underneath will be 'phone nimber in black ink
Dr D
Not worried about that. It's the 10 years bad luck that has me concerned!
EMcC
Nah, probably just a tame bird gone feral and may be a generation or two down the line.
gazyapp
I've shot one woody that was fairly white but nothing like that! Get it in the freezer then of to the taxidermist!! Lovely looking bird!
Dr D
I dont think so. The white ring on the neck was pronounced. So rather than from feral or rock dove genes it is dervied from wood pigeon. Also the flight pattern was woodpigeon before it met its waterloo. It the same size as the rest, but I guess it could be hybrid?

aga man
It is a Leucistic Woodpigeon and quite an impressive one at that. Well worth getting it mounted by a good taxidermist.

DEADLY PLUMBER
Hi Dr D I had one about three years ago a little bit whiter. Definite woody. Size, weight and markings. Freak of nature I guess. I've seen a few on the forum. When I shot mine I had a heart stopping moment that I had shot a barn owl. henry d
It is a Leucistic Woodpigeon and quite an impressive one at that. Well worth getting it mounted by a good taxidermist. Had one in a net on the allotments, preferred to let it fly off than kill it, but if it came into the pattern...
