Guest stevo
Meet George my 2 yr old terrier ( mums a border terrier and dads a Parsons jack Russell ) . I was messing about in freezer and thought ..... I wonder , so I threw a frozen feral pigeon up the garden and ****** me he went and picked it up and bought it back haha . just for the record I have no intention of trying to make him a retriever , but I do want to be able to take out with me in the hide , as I believe he will love it , plus it will be good company for both of us . I have been very slowly introducing to the gun , by going to a local clay ground and standing WELL back from the guns , and each time we go we get a little closer , he's now at the point were it doesn't phase him at all . still time will tell . https://www.dropbox.com/sc/gqobz7cgmonh694/AAA2BH73R10z-DfdNvFiBAcBa stevo Edited August 4, 2014 by stevo

Guest stevo
funny you should say that I knew of someone who used his as a retriever , funny to watch but you could see the dog loved it , so in my book it was worth it , if anything George and I will have some fun , and like I said all I really expect is for him to sit in the hide with me , and enjoy his day out . stevo

wj939
My old jack Russel would point on hen birds, never worked out why only on hens but she could nose out a bird the springers missed. Wasn't soft mouthed on picking birds and anything she did pick up she felt was hers and certainly not mine. In thick cover I think terriers are excellent for beating. Traztaz
I use our sausage dog she loves it goes mad when the gun safe keys are out That sausage dog is a deutsche teckel, one of the best dogs used here to hunt. You can take them up a highseat, use them to blood track, they are the best dog for moving boar on when driven shooting and best of all they are ferociously loyal to dad

wraivi
Ive been deer hunting in Sweden several times through winters and those little teckel 'sausage dogs' really are awesome little things. They cover enormous amounts of ground and just give it 110% all day in freezing conditions and deep snow. Fantastic at what they do, they live for driving game and capable trackers.
