Rimfireboy
Picked up some gamebore mammoth bb's and it says on the box to use less than half choke with this size of shot. The thing is, my half choke says it's ok for steel and my next one down is cylinder. I can't find any reference to steel shot sizes in the handbook. The gun is a beretta A400 Xtreme. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
motty
Use them. You'll be fine.
fenboy
I put them through a light full choke with no problems.
kent
badly worded it means no more than half the way I read it(which is pretty std) Steel patterns tighter than lead so half tends to act more like 3/4 and remember there are a lot more pellets per ounce in steel anyhow
Spaniel
I use 1/2 choke with 3.5 BB catridges through my xtreame2 with no issues
Rimfireboy
That's great, thanks for the replies. I've never used steel bb's before so I'll go ahead and use them with half choke. Thanks fellas.
figgy
They should pattern good with half choke. A 1/4 choke would be good for duck loads, half is tight like a full choke pattern. Figgy
birdsallpl
Use them. You'll be fine. +
Doriboy
Stick the half choke in and don't bother changing it!
Wildfowler12
http://basc.org.uk/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=723 See point 2 in the notes... Personally I've found that BB's pattern poor through a standard 1/2 choke, and prefer 1/4 for large steel shot in my S'nova. That being said almost all of my fowling is short-med range. Given that your next choke down is cylinder though, I'd use the 1/
Rimfireboy
Thanks fellas, I'll try them with half choke, then if I'm not entirely happy I'll probably invest in a quater choke tube.
Fal
I tried those through my a400 Extreme, fine through half. Nice pattern!
kiffy
Stick the half choke in and don't bother changing it! when i bought me semi auto i put half choke in and left it there no matter what ive been shooting... currently putting gamebore mamoth mags through it with no issues... well other than hitting the birds
Varminator
I have the same gun and used them all last year through half with no problem. Just bought 100 1's as I think 1's carry enough umpf for me and the extra pellets will net me more geese than the bigger pellet size..... Hopefully I will find out soon
