nderfel
managed to stalk and shoot my first Buck at the weekend. I have tried several times since the season began but with no luck, not great when its a six hour round trip to go stalking and costs £50 in petrol! Dorset to Sussex.... Light was fading fast when I saw this chap moving across the middle of a freshly baled field, about 60 yards away Managed to get into a good position for a safe shot. My only concern was that the only shot I had was a neck shot, not the easiest for a beginner like me at dusk. Pulled myself together, took the shot, shot placement was exactly where I had the cross hairs, down he went, a clean kill and a very relieved me. On initial examination it looked like he might have been hit by a car as he had some damage on his flank, a gash about 3 inches long and quite deep but wiser brains than mine put it down to a ruck now the rut has started. He is now in the cold room waiting for 3 weeks for me to go back and get him. I am going to attempt to mount the skull and antlers too, not because they are massive but because of the memories it will bring. Apologies for the poor photo, we waited a bit to go in and it was getting dark by then
