With only being able to shoot Friday last week I just knew I would get a call this week 11.00 this morning DB called and said can I pick him up from work at 12.00 and we will go looking. For the first hour we did not see a bird flying at all , then we found a few on an old wheat stubble , we asked and had the old chestnut " I'm going to shoot it this afternoon". So we carried on and decide to look at the field we shot in the mist on Friday even though it was only two days since we shot it when we arrived it had a number of birds down with more joining. We went to the Farm and told them we would be shooting and the farmer asked us to help him move some machinery , which we did and went and set up. We started shooting at 14.00 and straight away the birds returned and we had the hide so the wind was off our backs and the birds came straight in . After an hour or so the wind dropped and the birds stopped . When it started again they started as well . The farm we had asked at before did start shooting at about 16.45 and stopped at 17.30 but in that time he did send us some more birds. We stopped at 18.00 and picked up one hundred and fifty four pigeons and two crows and two jackdaws that came within range.
