col s10
dont think you are supposed to shoot quarry with pistols
Cyber
no, neither did I. 6ft/lbs is the maximum legal power for an air pistol and although it is probably capable of taking stuff out at close range, I wouldn't like to risk injuring the quarry for it to run/fly off. Oh and Stuart, Your sig is wrong: BAS metoer mk1 .177 (pigeon lover) should be BSA Meteor
pin
6ft/lb pistols are not for quarry, they have the power close in but the degree of skill required to make a humane kill, forget it. Stick with the rifles for that, or if you must get a pistol, stick to targets and tin cans

Stick with the rifles for that, or if you must get a pistol, stick to targets and tin cans I totally agree There is no point in getting a pistol, if all you want to do is shoot quarry, you might as well get a rifle and get better accuracy and more power, ensuring a quick kill
pin
To have it right a full power pistol in the right hands can be a good ratting tool, but they are so much harder to be accurate with. Useful for dispatching quarry, I know pest controllers carry them for this purpose..
Paul in North Lincs.
to be honest smk are cack.................I had a HW45 for years in .177 and took hundreds of rabbits with it in undergrowth at no more than 5 - 10 yards...usually on brambled hedgerows where they didnt bolt but remained still hoping you hadn't seen them ..........the occasional flick of the ears in the sunlight gave them away....with some very quiet stalking skills!!!! njc110381
I used to hunt with a pistol when I was a kid, the less said the better on that one though! My stalking skills and patience were great for a kid of my age, and for every one I shot, I probably didn't attempt 99 others! Skill is needed to hunt with a pistol so go for rifles, it's legal that way
fiiish1987
Don't even think about using pistols for hunting. not realy powerfull enough & not accurate enough. add that to you thinking about an smk pistol and your heading the wrong way
ROBLATCH
if i were you i would watch where i was treading as you might find youself in a spot of bother if caught shooting anything alike you mentioned with a pistol !
Lord Geordie
As Pin points out! For Ratting and for Pigeons in Barns they are spot on IF they have the power and accuracy such as a Crossman pump pistol  Using on Rabbits i would forget even though there are no rules set down disallowing this. A crossman milti pump pistol can manage sub 1" groups at 20 yards without a problem as can the Falcon FN8 and the Daisy side stroke though the last Daisy pistol i used was VASTLY underpowered LG
