steve_b_wales
A good friend of mine from America, has reviewed the above on YouTube. Type 'photon XT 4.6(part 1)'
Zetter
Very useful Steve I am seriously considering one of these for my .22LR. The picture quality in daylight confirms that it could be used comfortably as a day scope as well if needed.
steve_b_wales
I agree. I have just put a deposit on one. Due in 'mid November' (hopefully) Its a pity it doesn't have multi zero settings,so that it can fitted to different rifle's. Mine will be used on my 243 or maybe my .22 Hornet. onatangent
Just the review I have been waiting for. Think I will be picking a photon up Wednesday unless I chicken out and go my other route. Are there many photon models out as read on your other post there is a different mag version coming? Also is it waterproof? Most scopes seem to advertise the ipx8 rating or similar but didn't see it on yukons or any dealers website. Zetter
I want something to replace my NS50 rather than keep taking stuff on and off the gun. To be honest its fine for the ranges I shoot at having a scope on the gun I dont have to mess about with is quite attractive and the day performance makes it look finally like a good dual purpose scope for me. steve_b_wales
The other one I was considering getting was the ATN X sight. But at £300+ more,I cannot justify spending that, for the amount of times it will get used. Regarding extra ir, I have a NM 800 but thinking of getting something smaller, like a T20. I did look at that Steve as well but to be honest for .22lr it seemed a bit overkill and an extra £300 would get me the pump action shotgun I have been promising myself . onatangent
Unless I am getting the model confused and there is a new one released, Broadway Gunroom has a few on the shelf.
onatangent
Just phoned Chris and he has one 5x42, outgoing model, photon left and next delivery is mid November for xt's. Edited October 20, 2014 by onatangent
snow white
OK mate I have the old one doing very well with it but want to upgrade thanks for your help
onatangent
Yep sorry. How has the old one held up out of curiosity? Not keen on the weatherproof/splashproof idea as I go out in all weathers and if I get caught in a downpour I don't want the scope failing. Are they just being cautious? steve_b_wales
Like with most NV's,you have to be careful with rain etc. I will just carry a waterproof covering, in case I get caught up in some bad weather.
snow white
Well I have been out in some right **** as live in north Wales no problem I just try to keep it dry as much as I can. if you put a good IFR on it you can easily shoot rabbits at hundred yards I use irf I brought of some body of here for forty quid borrowed a nm 800 last week my friend and me could not see any different only it was £140 dearer

snow white
Hi Steve where are you going to get that from please
Dave-G
I am going to get a T74ir for my photon. That is going to be totally OTT even if you use a doubler with it given how light sensitive the Photon is, and it's mag if you don't mind me saying so Steve. steve_b_wales
I don't mind at all. I have a NM 800 with an ir pill, but would have to change the neck if I wanted to use the red pill as well. Would would you recommend? turbo33
Steve, I got a T20 from Nitrojoe ( top kit and bloke to deal with!!) on here for my first photon. Absolutely brilliant and I would imagine it would at least match the photons capabilities, maybe even outstripping it, can't see the need for anything bigger

Absolutely brilliant and I would imagine it would at least match the photons capabilities, maybe even outstripping it, can't see the need for anything bigger It's truly hard for anyone who is used to an add-on rig to fathom just how much more light gets into a dedicated rig. If you will be mostly using it at cenrefire ranges - or with a doubler then a T20 will be about right. If you are restricted to HMR range then it will probably be OK to use one on medium power if it's a three power mode one. If you are using it for subsonic ranges I seem to recall you having a 501b? This is a mixture of no IR, a 1 watt ebay IR and a low power IR that I make. I'm not trying to sell you one because I think you already have one that wasn't quite enough for an add-on?; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOzni0z4OXU&list=UUfD90pdXTvwdW-OWKFJadkw
