overandunder2012
you could always cheat and tune it like a guitar it maybe easier having said that i recon guitarists would have a chance of picking up banjo chords reasonably quickly once you work out the tuning the lead picking could be done with practice Edited October 31, 2014 by overandunder2012
FalconFN
The left hand us easy, it's the right hand that is the hard bit ad it is a totally different rythm/count to guitar - picking is something like 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2 and frailing is more bum-diddy, bum-diddy, bum-diddy, bum-diddy. Once you get that you'll find it easy.

FalconFN
Bar chords are your friend then. The 5 string banjo only has 4 strings that you touch with your left and many chords are one or two fingers only - much easier than guitars. You forget about that little drone string which bamboozles many a fine musician.
