Catamong
High Lodge is the best "quality" ground in the area. http://www.highlodge.co.uk/ Pin, you could even get some practice for the British Open Sporting, at this ground in August '07. Catamong
Alison, Take your pick: http://www.cpsa.co.uk/clubs/keyword.cfm?ck...amp;key=Suffolk I think there's also a club at Copdock, off the A12 near Ipswich..?? Perhaps some locals can help out on this one..?? Cat
MC
Suffolk shooter may be able to confirm this but I believe they are shooting at Wattisham Airbase on the 24th March. One of the guys that runs it does some wicked venison sausages. No prizes for guessing what I had for tea. I am not sure on how you get on the base as I was escorted last saturday. Quickshot
I would also highly recommend High Lodge. That is where i first learnt to shoot. It is a great place for variety. I dont know all the types but i ca tell you there are alot! And also you can pop quick round of golf in aswell. QS

Suffolk shooter
Hi alison, MC Wattisham shoots on the 31st March. The reason you were escorted is because they couldn't trust you not to jump in one of the apaches and use that Catamong, don't even mention the shoot near the A12 at copdock. My least favorite ground, right after Drinkstone. Lakenheath is good, good variety of birds on the sporting, three (or is it four??) Skeet ranges, DTL and ABT as well as Compact sporting and something they call the Rookery. It's about an hour from Ipswich though. Only up the A11 as well. High Lodge you know about. Not sure if Drinkstone has a shoot that day, although have a feeling......... Yep it has a shoot a 75 bird sporting comp, "The Russ Wall memorial shoot". I have no idea who is is though so don't ask. Entries 1pm-4pm. You'll never find it though if you've not been there before. Cash and trophies. I have a mobile number if you would like it I can PM it to you. Targets are always hard though due to the large number of County/England and GB shooters that reside there. Barrow Heath probably has one on the sunday as well. Badwell Ash GC may very well have its first date then too, although this does tend to alternate weekends with Drinkstone. Mid - Norfolk GC is supposed to be nice as well, somewhere near Norwich up the A140. Failing that, not sure which direction your travelling home, but going south down the A12 there's always the Fenns at Braintree, Parkford at St. Oysth and Clacton GC (CGC may have a shoot on, though never been there). Going North or West I get abit unstuck, athough Bedford way there is Risby SPorting Targets. Nice ground, shoot there twice, but a bit out of the way. My god, how sad am I that I know all these places and that they have shoots on If you fancy a challange, then Drinkstones only up the road from me. I could meet you nearby and guide you in. Normally a bit pricey too, but what the hey. MC you up for it? Pin, Mungler, Markio et al??? Just noticed your from t'up N'th, so Essex would be out then. SS PS, Where abouts in Ipswich are you going then (Whitehouse, Gainsborough, Witton, Castle Hill, Chantry??). Some all night rave, small choice of nightclubs as the main one got closed in January after a shooting.

I am staying at a hotel in Ipswich centre thats were the party is its more of a business party though so will have to be on my best behaviour. Yes i am from "up North" west yorkshire dear not south, we dont all speak like that you know and not all of us wear a flat cap and have a whipet, some of us have a sheep instead Just kidding. I was thinking of maybe Lakenheath or Braintree but couldnt find a web site for braintree any ideas of how i can get in touch with them. Mungler
Braintree is 30 mins away from me and is properly set up and organised. Braintree got about 16 stands of ESP, DTL, Skeet and compact sporting. Also some very testing targets.

Suffolk shooter
Alison, Sorry about the phone call earlier, bad reception. I'll phone you whilst at work tomorrow. As fun is the order of the day I would suggest Braintree or Lakenheath then. Braintree I have just remembered is only open until 12noon (Something to do with Wedding receptions etc. held at the hall next door), so means an early start if you want to go there to ensure you get a good round in, but will also be extremely busy on a saturday. Lakenheath, although out of the way for most of the others, is larger and open until 5.00pm s is a better choice. Your choice let me know, and I should be there. FG.22, Mate you're more than welcome, just no more of that **** hot shooting like that skeet range. We go to have fun. If we knew we we're in the prexcence of greatness, we would have sat back and watched instead :( SS

I may even stay over an extra night yet but regardless i dont need to be off in a rush. alison
