wymberley
Ye they seemed to lighten the tone when I said what I currently do as my job and the experience I have with fire arms in the past. Not a range warden by any chance?
Dan.
Ye I understand that, I'm only going for .223 as my maximum and I also have a mentor on hand if needs be so I'm hoping it shouldnt be a problem Tbh I don't have a need to apply for anything bigger than .233 with what I'm doing. And no not range warden lol I'm an aircraft engineer by trade but have done other things in the past
Breastman
I got my FAC shotgun initially for pest control. I'd joined the NPPC and just said there were high volumes of pigeons involved and needed the extra capacity.
Dan.
Right so I have got my visit booked in but I have been constantly looking through calibers etc and I think I would rather a .243 instead of the .223 which I applied for, the reason being there is more available at better prices and also it's a lot more versatile in its uses. After looking through the HO guidelines the .243 is the largest of calibers available solely for fox which is what I have currently have permission for but it would also allow me to shoot deer therfore reducing the amount of rifles I own and also the hassle of changing over in the future etc. The question is would I be able to change the calibers over on my visit? Thanks again Dan
Imperfection
The question is would I be able to change the calibers over on my visit? Yes as the FEO is collating information which will be passed to the licensing manager.
Jaymo
I have always found an open discussion with my FEO has always been most fruitful. Offer tea n biscuits and chat away, you can both gain a far better insight than a written application alone can.

steve_b_wales
As recommended by my FEO, I stated that I wanted mine for crop protection, backed up by a letter from the farmer stating that his crops were being hammered. I was granted it with no problems.
