roebuck1
Sat out tonight in a high seat with the .243 using 100grain soft points. Zeros at 100 yards. Fox appeared 15 - 20 yards to my left in under a tree with small leaved branches before it. Put the cross hairs middle body behind the shoulder. Do you think small branches or the 100yard zero could be enough of a factor to miss? Probably just looking for an excuse as dont want to own up to the faced that I probably did just missed! Cheers chaps

sako751sg
Probably a mixture of the two reasons you mention with a wee bit of you being a **** shot thrown in for good measure.
al4x
Yup you shot under it, most people do it when they are really close
trevor8262
Should have aimed top of shoulder blade .
michufc
One lucky fox I would say and probably shot under it
Alpha Mule
Mid chest at that range would put you max 2" low of your aim. Prolly shot him well enough, but a soft point most likely drilled straight through.
scotslad
Going to stick my neck out here. I thought most rifles tend to have a first zero about the 25-30m mark? (obviously will depend on loads of things scope hieght, calibre, bullet wieght etc) So bullet starts lower but rising, passes 'zero line' and will start to fall and pass ur 'zero line'/point of aim Best way is go out with ur rifle and set a target up at 15m and see where it is, possibly play about with some other ranges too
al4x
At very close range you have to factor in the scope height above the bore, mine shoots about 2" low at that range. Only shot a couple of things at that range but even on a roe buck i was lucky not to injure the first time.
drut
Weapon of choice that close would have to be shotgun, been caught out before with high mag scope & fox popping out unbelievably close. Now use a remote caller as their hearing seems to guide them amazingly close to the sound source.
