kitchrat
I have just had to finish off a sick pigeon in my garden, It's beak was all blocked up by some sort of growth. Anyone know what this could be and do we have to fear for the health of our adversary, the pigeon
fenboy
I dont think one sick pigeon means the species is going to die out , I will make a bet that there are still some to shoot this time next year. Just like people some get sick with various illnesses and diseases and some will inevitably die from causes other than lead shot.

motty
I have shot loads of pigeons with growths on their beaks, eyes and feet. I definitely did them a favour. I've found this mostly seems to affect squabs. This year I shot the most I've seen with the condition for years.
Berettacocker
its called canker, +1 shot a lot of pigeons with it over the years. If you break it, it's just like an abscess , smells like one too!
ditchman
last time i saw canker on a pigeon was 2 years ago..........talking to local boys who keep racing pigeons ...they seem to have more of a problem in their birds than the wild population.......
