Waiting for certificate to come through which should be in next couple of weeks (I hope!). Looking at guns now and want some advice. Option1: New gun :- Franchi Alcione or Apollo Option2: Second hand - Lanber/older beretta etc. Looking at spending up to £800 Any advice Thanks

Good luck. Edited January 21, 2015 by photon
arjimlad
Whatever you buy now, you may want to sell in a while. If you buy a good make secondhand, from a reputable dealer, then you won't lose as much money when you come to sell it. If you look after it, the gun will keep its value. £800 ought to get you a used Beretta, Miroku or Browning. I wouldn't be too worried about having a long warranty for a used example of the three above as they rarely go wrong. A dealer may give you a short warranty which will be long enough to iron out any problems.
joecash
beretta, browning or miroku - get what "fits" you best - for me it was miroku - dont rush into buying or you may kick yourself - I would never ever buy without trying first either - multi choke would be preferable and make sure the chokes are all there and that the threads in the barrels are intact - dont buy if there's a stuck choke - sign of poor maintenance or something untoward. If you are in the east midlands nevilles guns have a massive stock of used shotguns - straight bloke and will haggle a bit. And no i have no commercial interest in recommending him Edited January 21, 2015 by joecash
neil3728
When I bought mine, as I was looking at second hand the gun shop let me borrow one for 72 hrs so I could get to the clay range had try it out. Not sure if this is common practice or not. but it helped me a great deal.
