rimfire4969
Yea I'd love to do this if I had more experience or Knew somebody on the shoot It's the best type of shoot to get experience, not formal. Half the fun of going to a new shoot is meeting the other people there. Go on you know you want to.

wingy88
Prefer it to go to someone more experienced than me tbh so they could take full advantage. But if you pm me the address could I come along just to watch and learn? As never been on a shoot just the clays.

Hope my earlier comment didn't offend but as my dad always said.......once they've left the barrel boy, you can never call em back. If you've not shot live game and only shot in the confines of a clay safety cage then joining the beating line is a great way to appreciate and see how a driven day works. How sensible, with that in mind if you're in notts/leices one day pm me, I'll take you out pigeon shooting for a day, we'll get your confidence sorted. Kudos to you. wingy88
Thanks kyska I'll take you up on that anytime at a weekend. Yea beating would be fantastic aswell. Can't even find any of that near me to gain experience.
Grazy
Totally agree with the beating route first. Last year I joined the beating team on a local shoot. It was great fun but also was a great way to get to know the guns and to understand the drives. I got offered a gun for this season and have had a great time and honestly think it would have been harder had I joined the shoot 'green' without the season of beating. Can't even find any of that near me to gain experience. Get down your local game dealer (Google or Yello Pages) and ask them the contact details of the keepers that bring the game in. If they won't give you the keepers details, make up some contact cards and ask them to give to the keepers. Or your local gun shops will know most of the keepers.
